If you attack directly, yes it will work, so you'd gain back 3400 LP.

hmm ive been thinking about making a deck around Life Equalizer where injection would be the finisher

-play wall of revealing light
+pay 7000
-play upstart goblin
+opponent gains 1000
-play life equilizer
-both players have 3000
-lay down injection for the win

Like a lot of combos...easy to come up with...hard to actually pull off (even with multiples).
