You guys thought Chaos was bad? Welcome to what I like to call the Cyber-Stein format. Chimeratech? Pfft. Gonzales 3 Stein build was owning while Chaos was still around (succesfully giving my friend Michael Kohanim a single lose before he top four'd Philidelphia in an 800+ person Shounen Jump). Now with Exiled Force bumped up to two, it's brokeness just multiplied. So now players who feared Chaos because they ran inferior deck bases that refused to give them the ridiculous pluses that Chaos did, can now fear not even seeing that far into the duel because of a RIDICULOUS OTK that should've been banned without a second thought.
Consider how easy Stein is to counter though. Waboku or Kuriboh when they've just put themselves 5000 in the hole? Haven't we learned already that any deck that relies on one card isn't reliable? That's why we don't see many competitive builds bases around the Sacred Beasts or a Dark Magician deck with Dark Magic Attack, Thousand Knives, etc.
It doesn't mean that the Stein deck isn't good, but, like burn, it's too easy to counter.
Tomato Control. So many monsters to fetch with Tomato
Earth Control. With the recent addition of Exiled Force to the Semi-Restricted List. Giant Rat fetching Nimble's, Exiled, IFL, E-Hero Wildheart, and another Rat.
Machines. Machines are very good at what they do best.
Aggro Burn. For the First one or two months.
Warrior Toolbox. Yeah Exiled being semi is good for this deck.
Stein OTK. A little bit more solid than Chimeratech. IMO
Fiends. Not Dark World. Just stuff like Necrofear, Dark Ruler, Slate Warrior, Newdoria, Jeroid, and Germs. Enough said.
I like this list a lot. It will see the increase of the random DD Assailant in decks.
You guys are looking at stein decks all wrong. You keep saying well we can just play wabaku and its countered but what u didnt think about is any good player wil play multiply copies of giant trunade and other cards that can get rid of majics and traps like mobius, breaker, heavy storm, etc. Anygood player will never pay with stein unless the field is clear so if u have 1 set card then they know it could be a wabaku, mirror force, or even ring now. Everyone i know who plays stein will never pay the 5000 unless its a guarenteed win. So if you play wabaku after they play trunade they will just end their turn and do it next turn. I agree that in this format stein will undoughtably be the same way chaos was in the last list, overplayed and winning everything! the new list is good but by not limiting stein and semi-limiting exiled making last will even more broken its way to easy to get out stein very fast.
Now it seems like you're overestimating stein. Now let's say that they play Giant Trundade on Waboku and Waboku is chained. They don't play Stein. Now they have a dead card in hand for the turn, might not be able to summon a different monster. Alright, they end. Now the person playing against Stein has another turn to lower them to 5000, another turn to set a trap. With Trundade semi'd, its less likely that the Stein player will have two. So if, as you say, the Stein player won't summon Stein except against an open field, then they're sunk if the opponent so much as sets a spell card. I'm not denying that Stein is good, its just more like the most reliable combo deck out there. The thing is that its still acts like a combo deck. And it happens to be a combo deck that can be stopped by some commonly run cards if its not used like a Combo deck.
I can even imagine a Roid (might actually be playable now) deck using Jetroid as a side against Stein.
This is why chimera is/was FAR more deadly. Without worrying about lifepoints (and with PoA to back up future fusion) the "combo" is able to be gotten off with ease.
I could see people loathing over Treeborn this list alot more then last. Reaper at one, as put by mr mage, makes is 10 times more likely to be seen in maindeck. Not to mention, monarchs too. *there the reason Frogger is annoying*
Thanks,
Azurai Aeon
PS: Ha Ha, I dont have to trade for a RoD anymore xD!
Could someone plz explane how a chimera tech otk deck works?
There are a couple ways of pulling it off, but the basic idea is to dump a bunch of machine monsters into the grave (Future Fusion, Magical Merchant, etc.). Then Trunade the field, then play Overload Fusion, removing Cyber Dragon + other machines from play to bring out Chimeratech. It will then hit the field with a high ATK and can attack multiple times. Sounds OTK-ish indeed.
