Never said it was, but I didn't go to His Forum and start badmouthing it did I?
I've watched the posts on this board, and am a member of several other forums... and I dont think you, or Crimson have any space to say you're better than the players here....
no they don't DM but like them i hate those who are new to MTG who think they're the best and any deck the slap together is better than anyone else. there have been some new people to MTG on here and some of them ask for help on strategies and decks, while some just brag.
id go for [email protected], its official and you could ask for rulings supported by dci judges themselves... as for www.gamingetc.com, yes its good though i have one bad experience there (sorry crimson golem) some people there act as if they're the BEST tho0ugh actually they aren't. but generally speaking, its a good site...
oh one more thing, not because this site doesnt have lots of active players./posters mean its junk. ive been playing magic since unlimited, am a type 1 player, been playing only type one in vintage and classic type 1 formats, have played with classic type 1 killer decks with power 8's and 9's and STILL visit this site once in a while. my point, i dont generalize sites simply because of some pathetic spammers.
about the newbies and the getting back players, its good they're playing mtg. not because they're newbies mean that they're hopeless, we all started like them. as for those who treat weaker decks as pathetic ones and claiming to have really powerful stuff... look at your decks... do they have cards that read swamps, mountains, plains, islands, and forests? if you do, rip em off they're cheap imitations of dual lands. about the arrogant thing... they're newbies, and old mtg players just coming back, they might not know the new cards yet...
exactly Aya, exactly.... While I dont like it when inexperienced players refuse to take constructive criticism, I hate it even more when certain players get up on a high horse and call less experienced players n00bs because they dont know as much....
You know who you are... and you should know... that it would advance the game a LOT to ditch that High and Mighty Attitude and try teaching new players, instead of belittling them.
Alright, there are three different definitions of newb:
Newb-a person with little experience or knoweldge in a game.
N00b-an insult, means you think your the best but your not that skilled.
Noob-Kinda like a newb, just more degrading.
So yeah, just some useless knoweldge I've picked up while iff the realms.
But yeah, I'm not saying I'm not the best, but people need to learn to except critisisim, and get off your high horses, blah blah blah, just like the Moderators and Aya have been saying. But I only really use this fourm to post about MtG, and I don't use it much.
Just my rambling upon my return.
On another note, Fat Dude, you shouldn't simply say a game sucks or whatnot if you havn't played it. That, and everyone has their own opinion. So, just keep yours to yourself before I flame the crap outta ya
:devious:
noob, n00b, newb, its all the same to me. I just think that if someone sucks, they have the right to know. Im not on my high horse and saying im better, im saying they arent as good as they think.
Well yeah, I see what your saying, and I agree with you. But just going straight out and saying 'Your new, you suck, stop acting like your the best' or something is just gonna make them want to be a jerk even more. You know what, I think that human emotions suck sometimes:ermm:
That, is not constructive criticism, and does nothing more than give that person the impression that, you do indeed think you are better than them and need to be knocked right off your high horse.
If you left out the "Personally I think your deck sucks" part, it wouldnt be that bad, but ya know what? negative criticism like that is not going to be recieved well because all you're saying to them is "stuff your idea, I'm better than you, so do what I do or you suck"
Krosan, since you seem to think you're some great player.... I dont know if I agree, because I've seen some pretty laughable and petty posts from you as well, so before you start handing out judgements of other ppl, you should stop and consider your own posts... you are NOT automatically better than others that post here.
you know what? ive been playing with REAL TYPE 1 and kick *** mtg players, watch them PLAY against newbies, but guess what, they're the ones who were kind enough to tell those newbies how to improve their play and decks without them saying that the newbies suck. Im talking about REAL GREAT players here. BAsed from observation those who aren't really great are the ones telling other people that they suck. there are 3 types of weak magic players, one, they dont have access to really powerful cards but given the chance, they could really kick other players ***es; second, they dont have access to really powerful cards and they are really not good players; third, they dont have access to really powerful cards but given the chance and experience, they could become GREAT players.
One major advantage we old players have is that we have powerful cards coming from beta down thats all, what if the new players were given the chance to own these cards could one still say that they suck? Now about those who would say that since the newbies dont so they suck, id say get a life, mtg should be fun and a great way to socialize not an excuse to put other people down. REAL GREAT Magic players dont push new magic players around, rather they should help them improve trhough constructive criticisms. Oh one more thing, if you think you are really GREAT you shouldnt want cards that came from the ice age expansion down, instead you should be collecting different versions of duals, moxes, and stuff since you already HAVE the REALLY powerful cards. try playing sealed deck to see what you guys are really made of.
Its just the arrogance of the Average Type 2 Player that turns a lot of people off of the game....
I've been playing this game on and off since '93, my first lot of cards were a Beta Starter and 10 Beta Boosters, and I have noticed, that most Type 1 players are willing to Help newer players, myself included. At one Store, there are a couple of younger players that call myself, and a friend of mine, "Jolly big guys that hand out decks" And you Get a lot of guys like us in the Type 1 format, and its more laid back.
But when you turn to Type 2, you get a load of adolescent kids playing the same net decks and if you dont have the exact build they have, you suck.... and since new players generally end up in the Type 2 environment due to the fact that they have new cards.... a lot of the new players quit because of this attitude
I think the main reason for all of this is that most Type 1 players are 25 years old or older.... and most of the Type 2 players are kids. Simple enough, The Kids for some reason get too arrogant and caught up in their netdecking "skills" to help others. While the average Type 1 player will sit with a newer player and help them build a potentially successful deck.
Bottom line is if the Type 2 players would adopt the attitude that most Type 1 players have, the game would flourish and grow even more than it already does.
or most type2 players are simply arrogant since they are not used to playing with real magic oldies who could end games in turn 3 ave. so they tend to underestimate other players
