I believe you. I've been campaigning for Veteran Batman since the new rules came out. I say this: Don't use him, all you Exp Batman Only hacks. I will beat you like a scalded dog with Vet "Super Black Panther" Batman and take home the Bling.
You know what V Bats has going for him too?? Psychological advantage over E Bats!!!! (Bear with me on this one folks) A higher DV at hindering. Yeah I know that E Bats has Stealth in hindering, but to hit him you have to base up close, and a 16 is much easier to hit than a 17. V Bats has a 17 from afar, very high DV in DC. Now, people see the red ring around Bats and try to hit him from afar, if he is in hindering (as he should) his 17 defense will likely protect him from being hit. After a couple of misses on him and frustration starts sinking in... and he begins to incapacitate left and right (with his very good 8!!) your opponent will begin to sing the praises for VBats and start to fear the sight of him.
And that is what Bats is all about... FEAR....

While I believe that V Batman can be made workable, at the end of the day E Batman will take him to school. Outwit at the top of the dial ultimately just ends up being more useful. The Vet's superiority in CCE and willpower will quickly be forgotten when the E just takes them away.
Why have ground chuck when filet mignon is cheaper? E Batman is the real batman, and will continue to trounce his JLA version whenver they meet.
Werle, one on one, E Batman would lose to V. That 5 damage cce with 9 av would destroy E Bats, putting him past his good clicks. The whole dial of willpower, extra life, more consistent dv and damage set him above E Bats. And besides, how easy is it to win with a Batman based team? That's right. Extremely easy. I like a challenge...
Actually, I think E Batman would come out on top. E-Batman can lie in wait (fewer points) for V-Batman to come to him. V-Batman has to get right next to E do damage because of stealth. E-Batman can move to 6 squares away in stealth and then outwit either willpower to make V-Batman take push damage to get close or get out of range. He could outwit Leap/Climb to keep him from getting close or far enough away to avoid taking a hit.
It would likely be a standoff since E-Batman could keep V-Batman from ever getting an attack.
The vets much better just harder to use. I don't like using the experienced simply because the vet is better and everyone uses the experienced. E Batman has to get unstealthed eventually and somebody ends up trouncing him and he has these lovely mediocre clicks. V Batman is consistent all the way down. Good till the last drop, and thank you sol for the bp reference.
My roommate and I are currently doing a little Marvel vs. DC series in which I'm using about 1400 points worth of JLA (that's all of 'em), and the V-batman is what practically won me the first game we had. Sure he didn't start with outwit, but having a range of 8 instead of 6 on my double incaps seriously helped.
I don't know how much good he'll do me against her next team though. I've seen it and she's out for my BLOOD!

I just did a write up on DeckTech about my top 5 underutilized DC figures and Batman was definitrly on that list. Here's a short advantage/disadvantage list for V over E:
V Batman’s advantages compared to E Batman:
-1 more click of life
-1 more click of leap/climb
-8 range instead of 6
-3 more clicks of incapacitate
-3 more clicks of willpower
-1 more click of smoke cloud
-a click of 3 damage with cce
-free move
-leadership
-combat values are vastly more consistent
V Batman’s Disadvantages compared to E Batman:
-no Batman TA
-1 less click of outwit
-24 points more
For 24 points more I'm glad to get all those advantages.
Though it can probably be deduced from my opinions, I'm greatful to see a thread that's hailing the Vet as the quality piece that he is. While he's not my favorite version to use, he certainly gets looked at more than the Experienced version.
It's actually the Unique Hypertime Batman that I use the most. He gains charge, and starts with the highest attack and defense values of any Batman (barring the promo).
Is E-Batman a sight to behold? Of course, but that doesn't mean that the other pieces are chopped liver.

Heck under that argument, for only 40 points, R Deathstroke can own Vet Bats, heck he can even own Vet Thor too.
But the fact remains that 1 on 1 clix is just a fanboy fantasy and just not reality. You play with a team of figs not 1 on 1, and that is why you use as balanced a team as possible. Don't get me wrong I too think E Bats is better, but only because he's cheaper and I think for a no damage reduction click, 116 points is a bit too much. It's the same reason I never liked Mandarin either: hit him with She-hulk charging with the soda machine, and he's a pile of dung.
Once you pay enough points for a fig, you want them to last for awhile, not go down in 1 turn. That's why figs like Martian Manhunter are so hard to take out, cause you can't just outwit impervious/invulnerability, and have to take them out the hard way.
