no... claws have always been a DECAL on the kodiak...
they made rules for claws in the tactical handbook, but that doesn't mean that they're gunna apply them so directly in mwda
i think for sure that the mech on the ground is the one from the original announcement. i mean, look at it, its exactly the same! yes, its a little big, but WKs is not particularly well known for there accuracy with scale... *cough*RYOKEN II*cough*COUGAR*cough*
if it's not going to be the jade falcons in the next expansion, then what is the next faction going to be. I mean, the mech construction facility was there for a reason and someone had to pay them to build battlemechs and now that the raid of that facility has happened they are going to be p!ssed. I wonder who they are.
quote, 'best science fiction mini's game ever created'
right. :> besides that fact that its called mechwarrior and about 3 mechs are worth using what other 'best ever' features should we debate. :>

i can't wait for baseball clixs when it becomes strategically smart to use pitchers as outfielders b/c they are better throwers or something just as silly. :>

Grady Little is the game designer. Pitchers will be required to stay on the mound till they are Salvage.

The CBT miniatures I had of the Kodiak, all had Claws, with the lasers above the Claws.
(And they weren't decals, either!)
And if you look at the image of the Kodiak in the poster, he's got Claw-marks all over him.
(Click on the image for a larger view.)
The mech on the ground looks like a Bannson's Raiders' Mjolnir.
(The same SC mech with the hammer in the set's preview announcement.)
Let's see...
Claws...
Claw-marks...
Hammer...
"Now it's Mech vs Mech in Full on Melee Combat!"
A Kodiak stompin' a Mjolnir...
Sure sounds like ranged weapons are a thing of the past, and that they're going to make Bumper-Bots even worse!
Sounds to me like the Kodiak, and probably the Marauder II, are going to be Melee mechs after all.

Oh, the shame of it all!
I'm with you. I like to say CBT is a game played in space and MWDA is a game played in time. In CBT the terrain and range mods completely dominate play, while in MWDA you're trying to get the most points in a time limit. Terrain is not much of a factor. Playing melee-centric games even further reduces the terrain and spatial aspects of the game. You'll be playing almost entirely in base contact. :P I'm afraid it could be like the Infiltrate problem all over again -- whoever rolls first player is more likely to get charge first. :ermm:
Originally posted by Warflail Looks Highlander to me. In fact, it looks like Kurt Larsen. And God knows it would make sense.
"Lets give them the worst design paradigm of any faction in the game... total garbage for units in every expansion... take away their "goodguy" factor by introducing the Republic... insult their intelligence in not one novel, but a whole #### trilogy... then we can further mock them by having a SW mech kick the #### out of Kurt Larsen on the Counterassuault poster!"
Not that I didnt want to kick the #### out of Kurt Larsen when I saw his stats.
You can easilly see part of the Shield of the Valiant on the ground to the left. The cockpit is the Valaint’s. The big foot is kinda inside the chest cavity of the little Mech.

Warzog,
I suspect what he meant was that they were "just for looks", considering that the write-up for the Kodiak did NOT have a hand-to-hand weapon included. So...even though they look cool & menacing, the mech could only punch like any other mech, and rules-wise, would do no more damage than another mech of equal tonnage when IT punched.
