Two Clansmen, a Dashi pilot and an Annihilator pilot are prepping for battle with an opposing IS force. Suddenly they see a small Hover Tank emerge from behind some trees.
Dashi pilot: Wow, that is some nice InnerSphere technology. Getting 10 tons of metal to float with with nothing else than forcing huge amounts of air back to the ground is no easy task.
Annihilator pilot: True, true but it won't matter in a few moments now will it? Heh heh (aims PPCs at small hover tank)...WHAT?
As the Hover Tank emerges fully from the trees it appears as if it towing a massive battle tank on tracks behind it while flying along at top speeds.
Dashi pilot: WHAT? IMPOSSIBLE! Quick! Fire at the tank before it gets into range.
Annihilator pilot: Uhhh, can't get a lock, sir. A , short, fat, bald man keeps popping up on my screen telling me that this is an illegal move! What to do!?
The hover tank slowly parks in font of the 2 'Mechs and unhitches the tank. The tank slowly rotates its barrel as the Clansmen grow frantic.
Annihilator pilot: I finally can get a lock. Yes! No! *transmission cuts off*
Dashi pilot runs in terror broadcasting: "Amazing! Impossible! All abandon your stations! Doom has come!"

For those of you who are not aware, Donar is the German name for Thor. Thor is the Scandanavian name. :) Mjolnir (meyol-near) is the name for Thor's hammer.
Originally posted by Razorfang that's not correct.
Thor is called "Thor" in Germany.
Let me correct myself-
during the days of the Germanic tribes, the southern tribes (those now inhabiting the land mass known as Germany) referred to Thor as "Donar," hence "Donner" for thunder and "Donnerstag" for Thursday. The reason that the German "Donnerstag" is the English "Thursday" (Thor's Day) is the difference in names for the same god in different areas. Both languages derived from a common ancestor.
I just studied this for a whole term. I hope I know what I am talking about.....of course I would be terribly wrong, but that would make my instructor and my texts wrong too ;) :p
Do you know something that I don't, Razorfang? I'm being serious too, not a smart-###.
Peasant Bill is making his everyday walk to work with his trusty pitchfork! But wait!!! A giant Atlas is in his way! His instincts tell him to run... but wait? An alternative plan pops into his head! Lets take over that mech! Gosh, i break windows everyday! Peasant Bill walks bravely towards the mech, and climbs his way up to the top. He finally gets to the very top and begins whacking his pitchfork against the the cockpit. The pilot comes out and says "Need a hand?" Peasant Bill uses his quick reflexes to beat the pilot to death with his dull pitchfork. He sits down in the mech's command chair, and expertly bypasses the mech's security codes and takes it over, instantly gaining access to the previous pilot's skill. BUT WAIT!!!!
Bill hears a whistle in the air... It must be artillery!!! Bill cowers inside the mech, but the shells fly in and hit him directly!!! The mech is untouched. After a couple of shells (Bill is quite strong, you know), he finally passes on...
To his horror, after his death, the mech comes back to life and begins fighting again!!! How could that be?!?!?!?

I second. Living near the "Donnersberg" (would be Mount Thunder in English), and there being a temple for the Old Celtic god of thunder, I also am sure that the guy who is called Thor in the Northern Europe is called Donar in Middle Europe. The Norths and the central European people come from the same origin. Germanic tribes. They had the same religion and gods before they became Christians.
well, if you studied it, it might be correct :)
i was referring to my german version of the "Edda"-saga, where Thor is always named as "Thor" and not as Donar.
Personally I thought "Mjolnir" was given to the CA mech in question due to its speed as in "My y'all er' near now. Weren't you fellers over the horizon a second ago :p?"

Well, the problem with that is that it has been translated into modern German-
how many people know that Donar is Thor? Hence the simple switch from old germanic to modern German.
Man, You guys are ALL fantastic! Some show excellant knowledge of ethnic history, etc, some show excellant humorous writing skills, ALL made my day! Thanks to ALL!

- So that one looks pretty good! What's it's name?
- That's Arnis!
- That's a wierd name...
- Well the actual mech name is "Dasher 2"
- You name your mechs?!? You're wierd!
- Well um actually, it-
- Haha.. well anyways.... what's it best attack?
- It charges!
- How does it charge up it's attacks?
- No, i mean like run into the opponent!
- Couldn't that giant atlas thing just shoot it!
- No... charge has longer range.
- what??
- Well yeah...
- Um so what's that gun on the side do?
- Gun? I thought those were claws... oh.... wait.. lemme see... yeah you're right! it is a gun!
- What do you do if someone else has an "Arnis" -heh-, and charges you!!
- Well, arnis has "agility"! That means it wont get hurt by charges!
- So i can have this giant atlas thingy, right, and you can charge me for like 3 damage-
- 5!
- Um... So you can cut the damage 5 times by being agile.. don't you think something's wrong! Lookit the size of those mechs! They're like the same size!
- Well the scale is-
- I can see a little low quality guy inside! They're the same freaking size!
- Oh.. yeah..
- Anyways, what's the name of those things?? *points at cluster of mechs*
- Oh those! That ones a Hatchetman.. That's a Mjolnir... That one's a Centurion...
- What type of primitive game is this!! Mechs with axes and swords!!!... except for that cen-whatever.. It looks strong with a giant cannon on it's hand.
- Yeah... that one's okay.. but theres a better version... Look over here!
- What the..? It's got a !@#$ing sword and a !@#$ing shield!!! How can that be better?
