I agree with the list of questions, very well-worded Marauder727. I do think you should also ask the question Warflail posited, whether the chat is to gauge our perceptions of the concept and whether it is good, or if it is merely to inform us of it again, without really taking our feedback.
Also, Warflail is correct on another point. Everyone, make sure they answer the question concisely, instead of movign around the subject or going on tangents. If they do that, they are showing that they are not really interested in our feedback at all.
And one last thing, while Wizkids at times may be unresponsive to our queries (note that is unresponsive, not necessarily uncaring), if we do forward the petition and also post separately to Topps themselves, they might take notice of the customer support base for a product not being happy with proposed changes to said product. The business is capitalistic and money-driven, but if the customer base is willing to provide a large enough argument against it, and willing to vote with their money, that will gain attention more readily than a bunch of posts and some threats.
Originally posted by SYB I don't agree with your cause, but I will provide some advice to help you anyway. I read you questions carefully. Some of them are fine. Some of them are very aggressive questions. When asking questions, you should avoid saying outright, or obviously implying, that WK is corrupt or lying (for example, the word "bogus" in question 8). This is a good way to get the WK liason to ignore you and your future questions in favor of another. Also, don't forget that this man works for WK. There are limits to what he allowed to say. There are also limits to the knowledge he may actually have (if they haven't set a plan in stone, he can't tell exact details). Pestering him precise details when he can't give them (either due to lack of knowledge or company policy) will have the same affect as aggressive questions.
I'll see you there in the front seat next to you. But, while your questions will be aimed at proving this is a bad idea, mine will be aimed at showing why it is a good idea.

SYB,
Aggressive questions are needed now because of the standard we've been given so far from WK about changes they do to the game.
If they have a "Yes-man" come out and just give us PR pap, yes, you'll see them dodge my questions. But if they are sincere about dealing with our concerns, they will have someone on the chat who has some of the answers to these questions and will not dodge them but rather, take them head-on and at least TRY to answer them honestly.
The changes they intend to make to this game REQUIRE hard questions that DEMAND hard answers. I'm not going to the chat to toss them softball questions so they can end the chat and say, "See there! That wasn't so bad, now was it?" I want them to be as specific with us as possible. Answer these questions and we can have a better idea of whether we want to stay or leave. Don't leave us in some limbo while they make changes that DIRECTLY affect our pocketbooks and our collections.
Unfortunately, you're not going to be happy with any answer they give you, will you, Troy?

All, I'm definitely going to be there and I intend to get answers, you can rest assured there. I am an old CBT'er and I've gone through this kind of nonsense before. You get assurances that your game is not going to change, and they lie to you and you find that they completely revamped it.

"You can retire my Bart Bradshaw only when you take it from my cold, dead hand!!"
That was uncalled for. I would think that you, being a regular on this board, would not stoop to underhanded little digs like that comment was.
I'm going to listen to their answers and, if they dodge the question, continue to try to get them to answer...as politely as possible. I'm not going to be insulting, but I refuse to let them walk out of that chat without giving us some REAL answers, not the pap responses we've sometimes gotten in the past.
These changes they are stating they're going to do require them being honest with us. Wouldn't you want the same?
Here is my question to Wizkids "Do you want my money or do you want me to give all of my money to Games Workshop?" ... This lastest development is going to dig Wizkids a hole they will never get out of if they stick to this plan, and they will be the evil empire of gaming

There's nothing wrong with asking a pointed question. After all Wizkids offered the chat. If they don't send someone who can answer or has access to answers then why bother. Its a slap in the face to its customers/players. I don't see the questions asked by Marauder727 as trying to prove a bad idea. They are more akin to finding out why Wizkids thinks its a good idea, based on the immediate reaction upon the press release. Its too easy to read into a question posted in an online setting as to its aggressiveness. What really needs to be limited in the questioning is numerous persons asking if figure (insert favorite piece here) is going to be effected and discussions on the game mechanics. If Wizkids were smart they would set up additional chats for players to get feedback from the designers, playtesters etc. It would go along way to helping win back players if they thought that their favorite hobby was truly in good hands and had a long future ahead of it.
i would like you to add this question to the list.
"There are countries where expansions are placed in stores months after the expansion is released. Organised play support is sometimes late as much as half a year.
How do you thing this will effect the tournament legal 'life span' of units in the places where mw is not distributed so well as in usa?"
'donno, perhaps some of you native english speakers could rephrase my attempt to make a resonable question :)
the point is that for example here in slovenia, we only recently got one store in ljubljana (capital) that got a couple of ffe and dfa set boosters.
if i buy ffe boster, will the unit i bought, if we suppose that we have new rules alredy in effect, only be allowed in approved play for less than a year before i can ... i hope you get the point.
so far i can buy old bosters and be delighted i can open some ffe bosters, if they start to retire sets...
due to the time difference i will probably not be able to participate in chat, if you could ask this question i would be grateful.
I'll add it to the list of questions I'll try to ask tomorrow night. I can't guarantee that I'll get it asked, but if they let me ask multiple questions, I will.
there is one thing we cannot do, which is just say outright "YOU ****** ****** WHY THE **** ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING THIS****** UP?!?! CHANGE IT NOW OR ILL BLOW YOUR ***** SKY HIGH!"
*sigh* This chat session is going to lead nowhere.
Fact is, this IS a financially-drive move. WizKids DOES want your money, as they have from the get-go. It's the way of the world. They don't get money, they don't keep supporting the game, we're left without an Approved Play system to play in. At all.
I bet you a dollar this move was planned from the beginning, just like the first change to Approved Play was. It's a natural move for a game company to make, and a necessary one for them to continue innovating and continue making games. And while you might be upset, I don't think it's going to stop WK from doing it.
And here's the real kicker. Even if you leave, there will always be more players. WK is making the game more accesible to newer gamers, and I'm certain they'll keep the business going even if some veterans stop buying boosters and stop playing in tournaments.

What research has WizKids conducted that gives the impression that there is a large, untapped group of new players, waiting to enter into the game...if only the "playing field" is leveled?
yes what's up with this???
the older players that put the money into the game
this so called 'playing field' is no more even if you do this.
