Unfortunately, taking something away from a faction, say, their "Command Mech" is only going to make the losing team's players really mad. Unless it's the Highlanders getting rid of Melcien Tetro, heh heh.

Positive reinforcement is the key. I don't compete in Street Fighter game tournaments with the 'prize' being that I have to win, or my favorite character is removed from future editions and/or barred from future tourney play. Wouldn't go for that. I /do/ go for the neat prizes I can get, however. Like meeting cool people, winning a little bit of cash, or even a fun T-shirt. Those are part of why I compete; all positive things. No negatives.

Running gaming as a zero-sum matter tends to be a bad idea.

I think another faciton war would be nice but no unit switching etc. Kal/Gus was enough. Perhaps a battle for terra? *eyes shift quickly*
