ok, personally, I think think is a good trend. Since I'm a faction collector and player, this will make it easier to collect the pieces for my factions since tards won't be hording siad LEs just cause they're alot more powerful then alot of other pieces.
But if that's the way things are going to be, I think all LEs should be pieces that the faction does not allready have, just to give a greater diversity of choice of units within a faction.
I've always felt the majority of LEs should be in the ballpark of the normal unit (or units) on a power level. Sure, slightly more or less powerful is fine as long as the cost reflects the power.
However, I think they should try to be different. Add some ability, remove some ability, etc. Give a reason to play the LE.
Originally posted by Arkham_Night I believe Marquees...a sort of local type "mini nationals"...for the faithful venue attendees (of which at mine are mostly kids)...offer an "Uber" mech...something a kid should be willing to put his best game forward in attempts to win. And that prize should be of the sort that is most excellent and worth every hard earned victory that kid accomplishes.
My thoughts exactly. The Marquee prizes of late have been a little disappointing to me. Revekka Shteysel and the Ronin infantry are not all that impressive. Revekka degrades too fast, with too short a range, and the Ronin infantry die too easily.
Non-Marquee LE's should be good units, with abilities not normally found in abundance in that faction, (i.e. SC units with good ballistics, SS with better heat), but also lacking a bit in the factions strengths. (i.e. SC with medicore heat, SS without lots of AP)
Marquee LE's should be better overall, but still not unstoppable.
LEs, imo, should be as good as the best unit of the type they are based on *and* different in some way. I.E. different SEs, slightly longer dial, slightly better numbers. LEs should be playable things that people would *like* to havewhich bring different abilites to the table for their faction, but should not be necessary to having a successful army.
I think that reducing the number of "uber" LE's is a good trend. (Notice they didn't even make LE artillery pieces for LI or CA) They have some play value but probably more collector value.
What do you think will happen with the "gray base" LE's they are going to be including with FP? Now they have announced there will be 20 gray-based LE's mixed in with Falcon's Prey, in addition to the 12 uniques. That's most of the LE's for the set, isn't it? I wonder if those same LE's will also be given out as prizes (maybe the prizes will have normal black bases).
If that's what they do, it will probably cut down a bit on prize-hunting at tournaments. WK wants us to do our prize-hunting in boosters.
I believe that even from the very beginning that the point of LE's wasn't that they should be better, it's that they should be different. Case in point: Caesar Spano.
There are le's from every set that are better than the unique and non-u counterparts, and there are some from every set that aren't as good.
Personally I am glad that LE's are getting toned down. I collect for the sake of fulfilling the faction. I am trying to collect 36 Mechs for each faction, 12 mechs per regiment, and trying to fill as many lances as possible. So for me the LE wasp and Marauder II are good that they are not as Blasted excellent as the bounty hunter or cater Gao caus ethat means I will have an easier chance to find them. no more situations like OEJ where people wanted 30-50 bucks to give him up yay
One thing I'd like to see are REALLY Limited Edition pieces. I mean: I don't know how many pieces are made for each LE, but I guess it's in the order of thousands and thousands. I'd love to see the first 3 players in the world championship be awarded by 3 UEs, that is UNIQUE EDITION pieces! Pieces that are painted by good artists that cannot be found anywhere else... Those would become really really interesting pieces for true collectors!
Or attempt something like The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse - Death, War, Pestilence, and Famine from the Mage Knight Sinister Expansion...those pieces are worth about $1,500 apiece now! Supposedly, the chance of getting one was like 1 in every 15,000 boosters or something.
Originally posted by invader zim Yep seems they may be trying to stop prize hunters but what good does that do if even the players do not show up for sub-par prizes. :ermm:
Hopefully players would show up to play the game and enjoy it for what it is! I suppose that's asking alot... I know I did show up to the venue prize-hunting whenever my faction's LE's were up for grabs, but most of the time I'm not good enough for championship and I'm not bad enough for Fellowship, so mostly I go for fun. Seems like a novel idea to me:noid:
I see your Point Vetrigo1 but my point also is if all I wanted to do is play for fun regardless of prizes I can do that at home. Lets face reality most players go to a tourney to try and win a LE and Have fun doing it (I hope) but if WK continues to make sub-par LE's players will stop going because they can conceivably have their only for fun games at home especially since some venues have been forced to start charging a entry fee for their tourney's.
But make no mistake I am not saying that LE's should be more powerful than regular units. They should though at a min. be as playable as most regular units so players are not stuck with the Cesar Spanos of the LE world. As far as I am concerned LE should of Equal or a little greater playing power and/or a Different load of SE's or a unit that compensate for a factions limits as on player here suggested.

Exactly. Look at the first few batches of LEs - you had unique dials like Etan Nova Cat's (which reflected a glitch in his targeting systems) and Sadia's movement profile (which reflected the insanity brought on by EI).
It's a pity we don't see such things in the more recent waves.
first off, I haven't seen an LE yet that is so broken it makes the regular unit sad. Kenny? The merc is better, Kenny just has 2 pogs, but loses his "coolness" on click 2. Rusty? 4" radius is cool, but 2 damage without AP? Mason? 12 attack with Command, great, but the 21 def and short dial make him no better for his point cost. Jonah? Point for point no better or worse than Hasbani.
Ebay celebrates rarity, and not much else. Rusty, Mason, Jonah, Kenny, and others are only selling for what they are because of their rarity. Very few LE's are worth playing.
I think that LEs should be good, not always better though. they just make so many worthless LEs i don't feel good when i win a tournament! I get some vehicle with 8 inch range armor pierce as my LE for 50 points. Wow, that was worth playing..
I think LE's should be competitve with Uniques and although Draddog has said the Uniques should be better in many cases the LE's are at least as good.
Let's look at some recent ones:
Evan Kurst vs Chee Yun: Many if not most people would pick Evan, although neither is truly 'uber'.
Jacyn Bell vs Andrzej Czupek: Jacyn has better physical attacks and longer range and heavy armor but Czupek is 32 points cheaper, has better defense, and is elite. Pretty much a wash.
Danai Liao-Centrella: She's no Arnis and IMO not even a Kirasawa, but she is the only Liao mech with agility, so that's something.
LE SS Fulcrum: A very remarkable piece even without the pulse that would have put it way over the top. The cheapest piece with 5 starting damage and she has an 11 attack to go with it.
Of course, the LE Garrot, Cavalry, LI Marauder II and the latest batch don't give us much to be excited about.
