D'oh!! I just realized how powerful Scavenger and Predator combined are. Nothing like making two attacks and healing yourself for two clicks with just one order. OUCH!!!
Originally posted by Suskis Sea Fox abilities seem balanced. They have RENEGADES that is bad and the other that are good.
But all 3 abilities of Falcons are good! This sounds unbalancing to me... Moreover, they are quite powerful abilities!
Well, Zellbrigen is not fully an advantage, the same way Ruthlessness isn't fully an advantage for House Liao - once a JF unit attacks an Elite unit, they have to continue chasing them. Granted, like Ruthlessness, there are some reasonably easy ways to counter this. Still, it isn't entirely an advantage ;)
Originally posted by ProtoformX Okay, now that we know the CJF abilities, anyone care to point out how the CJF Kinnol MBT is worth 60 points???
Well, it does have a 50% chance of making hindering-ignoring attacks due to the EI. That must bump it up some, especially inasmuch as EI cancels camouflage.
Still, it's not the most exciting unit. I'm far more amped about the CJF 'mechs. Merciless will be fun to use, as will the massive restart heat sinks.
Whatever, the Clans aren't familiar with combined arms tactics so it only stands to reason that their vehicles and non-powered infantry are sub-par. Oh no, let's complain to Wizkids for actually implimenting some of the fluff into the game!
Notice that Enhanced Imaging says "the target treats hindering terrain as clear terrain" as well, this means no camouflage bonus for the target. I think that's perfect, since CJF is sure to have garbage artillery (or none at all even). Also notice that NARC is different from EI, NARC allows you to ignore blocked lines of sight, whereas EI does not. But EI negates camouflage and NARC doesn't, if I remember correctly.
I like the Scavenger ability, easy to kill infantry become power-ups for you!
What I find amusing is that once a Clan Jade Falcon mech gets within DFA range of an enemy, rarely will you ever see the JF mech use its guns. +d6 to attack, where you have a 5/6 chance of equalling or beating the target's +2 defense? On top of that, you get no penalty if you hit? Additionally dealing +1 damage to an elite unit (always handy vs Liao)? Yes please.
JF mechs will be jumping like mad. Fine by me, I'll take a lot of pleasure in playing with an army of DFA'ers. Some people are sure to go "What the hell? Clanners always using DFA? What is that?!" Keep in mind this is the game mechanics, how units behave in the game have no bearing on the fiction. The fiction just says there a little less stingy on close combat (finally). Plus I think the main point is it'll be fun to play with. I always wanted mechs that could pull off DFA's and have an army centered on that.
Slow down everyone! Merciless isn't that great! It just means that you add 1d6 to your attack, not your damage. It's like getting Improved Targeting without losing the current number.
Oh, and remember that you must have the same speed type as the target to take advantage of Scavengers, i.e. no 'mech+dead infantry=2 clicks repair, but mech+dead MECH=2 clicks repair.
uhh previews? previews start TOMORROW  june 24 but im liking the faction abilitys =) heard a wierd rumor about all the factions getting abilitys in FP. Wierder yet they come from a really trusted BM but then again Its only a rumor
