Adding on to Davids point, also those that got into CBT and the backround here in(I myself am one) have become fanatically loyal to a house/clan and play pure.(Example: I started liking House Steiner, and started playing Stormhammers when they came out)
Originally posted by Devenny2 Wait, so you're saying it should be decided by broken figs? My problem with mixed armies is that most I saw were DF trikes or ATV's, SS Balac, Merc or SSArrow, etc. Things wouldn't HAVE to be faction pure, but if someone did play it, they'd get rewarded by chemistry of the warriors.
They would still lose with an army like that. DF trikes can't stand and take the damage. The SS Balac's attack isn't high enough to pose threat to my 'Mechs and the artillery wont hurt me unless he uses the SU AP-SE. Clever idea but too flawed to actually hurt me.
CrakRabbit- So what you're saying is that an army of DF Donars, BR Sprints, SS Towed Autocannons, and SH ATVs would never win? I think you may have missed something...
I like the good guys, I believe in heroes. So my faction loyalties and immediate choices is/were pretty obvious. I only ever got the overview of CBT fluff, so every house and clan seemed like power hungry lunatics or blind fanatics. It wasn't until the Dark Age that I got my heroes. When/if Ghost Bear is added, I may have another.
For the Republic.
I've always found playing faction pure to be relatively rewarding (even if I lose I feel that I took the moral highground) My old CBT loyalties were with the davions and a few of the more liberal warden clans (WIE and DS/SF), but I found myself quite drawn byt the republic when it came out in force. Once Clan Sea Fox gets a significant amount of units I will attempt to play them faction pure. Playing faction purity tends to add a much needed balance to things and makes play more enjoyable as I see it.
