Ranna Kerensky's gene-mother was the gene-daughter of Natasha "Black Widow" Kerensky. Ranna was Natasha's "granddaughter" so to speak. You would think that our new Anastasia "Tassa Kay" Kerensky would be descended from Ranna's gene-daughter, but that is not the case.
In Blood of the Isle there is a scene where Jasek Kelswa Steiner is chatting with Anastasia Kerensky about her heritage. Anastasia confirms that Natasha "Black Widow" Kerensky is indeed her gene-mother (not any subsequent generation). She also implied that her gene-father was someone very famous from the Classic Battletech books but she did not say who. One could speculate that it was Phelan but who knows?
Originally posted by crash341 The genetic strains are only from the warriors who have a Bloodname. A Bloodname is like a last name except you do not start with one. You have to earn it through a Trial of Bloodright. Only Trueborns are allowed to compete, with one exception (see below)
Second, the trueborn scientist was Peri of Aidan's sibko. She had the changes done to her physiology reversed. That is how she gave birth to Diana, who was the first (and only, IIRC) freeborn to win a Bloodname.
Actually,Kev Rosse is a freeborn but he was able to compete for a bloodname. In the Dark age time it seems the Clans have allowed more leeway to freeborns.
And I wouldn't put my money on Phelan Ward, maybe Ulric.:)
Aff, Ulric Kerensky would be a much better choice, but I bet the truth is even more devious than that. I just don't have much else to go on, and the fiction probably won't touch on this subject again for a long time...
