According to WizKids, AoD will have 12 unique 'Mechs, and "6 super-rare (silver base) 'Mechs and 1 ultra-rare (crimson base) 'Mech."
So what are they going to do for prize support for all the AoD events?
Some prizes might be pilot and/or gear cards. Having uniques as prizes in December, though, makes me think that WizKids is getting us used to the thought of uniques as prize support.
If there's a unique pilot card for every unique and LE that provides a lot of combinations for prize support. (Maybe a championship prize would be a unique along with its pilot card, and maybe even an appropriate gear card, as well. This would save you from booster hunting to match uniques and their pilot cards. A fellowship prize might be an LE without any cards, or an LE pilot without a 'Mech. A later fellowship prize, or fellowship for a separate event in the same month, could be the matching 'Mech or pilot card.)
I personally don't mind the uniques as pizes, since I've only managed to pull three uniques from about 25-30 Falcon's Prey boosters, so far. (At least I'm beating my record during the Counterassault marquee weekend: 21 boosters and NO UNIQUES!)
I only wish they weren't two out of the three uniques I HAVE managed to pull... ):
hmm, judging from the xbox mech, which says pilot and mech. i'd say this. and listen closely, cause im almost certain i am right.
so the crimson base is SUPER RARE. it is a preview mech from the next expansion, usually a new faction, or new parent house thing. that will never be a tourney. now the gray based will most likely be tourney prizes, with black based uniques/matching pilots as lower end tourney prizes. i do not see them giving the pilor or gear cards as the only tourney prize. but a mech, and one of the two, preferably a pilot. how do i know this? a lucky guess, whispered to me by a little goldfinch in a drug induced dream. well, that, or it seems the logical thing...
Do you think that the Crimson base mech is the Marquee Champion prize? About having normal mechs in the next expansion.... Maybe Wk will just give pilot and gear cards for prizes. How cheap would that be for prize support? Or Maybe a mech for the winner and the corresponding gear and pilot card for Fellowship? Makes some sense in my mind.

No, because Draddog already shot down any chances for any kind of information about them in the Q & A with Draddog thread. (Unfortunately.) It's a dead issue.
Originally posted by Aerothorn Great. I finely pull an LE and it's offered as a prize. Oh well, I still love you, Tina. People say here defense is too low but she almost won me a mech battle- my main force charged up, blocking line of sight to her, and she sat in water and streaked every turn. Very nice.
You didn't pull an LE, you pulled at normal unique.
Unrestricted events I would think would be more popular, at least for the veteran players like myself who have spent thousands of dollars on this game and want to be able to continue to actually USE their stuff in a sanctioned tourny.
Thus ... wouldn't it make more sense if you are going to mix uniques and LEs as prize support to have the LEs be prizes for the Contructed tourny to help boost the turnout for those events?
The mind boggles at the thought processes WK uses sometimes.

well you get what you pay for
besides... in the new era, pilot cards and gear cards will probably be in higher demand than mechs.... ala mechknight
nah, mechs are great, the cards amplify them. so i see them as being equal. look at the CCG for the ratio of pilots to mechs. mechs are more demanded, but a good pilot is always welcome..
