I think the Bannson's is actually an improvement on the old one. Considering how rare armor is; i'd rather have it over the old one w/ evade. The armor allows it to live longer and gives a chance for the FP to heal it back up. Plus, it keeps the 3 damage a click longer than the old one. Evade on a hovertank is kinda pointless when it breaks away just as easily. Definately a nice partner to run tandem with the Cizen if you ask me. I don't think that any of these tanks were exact reprints of old units like a few we've had before.
I do agree, the JES III were very disappointing. I think I would have preferred a different tank. I would have been just as happy with a PO Tank. I wouldn't have minded a reprint of the RotS PO tank. I'd think that even HS and HD PO tanks would have rocked. Wheeled tanks just don't work well for me unless they are highly exceptional.
Gah, the negativity in this thread! It seems like some people are determined to bring back the frantic times of 2003, when this forum was a tidal wave of incessant whining and flamewars. Do you wannabe metagamers really miss those days so much?

Heck, I think this thread could be a lot more negative. Besides, aren't people allowed to be disappointed? Back in 2003 negativity was rampant across this entire bulletin board. Now it's isolated to specific topics. That's a huge improvement over the pre-AOD days. There's no negativity on the Bishop thread. There's tons more negativity on the JES III thread and with good reason; they reprinted a piece that never got played in the old days, and it will never be played now, either. That's a reason to complain. Not all complaining is a sign of pessimism or negativity. Acroos the boards, the mood is pretty good. And it will get even better is House Davion gets an ATV. Go HD!

Really resent being called a "wannabe". I'll leave it up to the mods and keep out of the flame wars.
Think of it this way - this tank kicks the pants off the JES III!
Seriously, I did like what Lunatic said above. It's interesting to think of things in terms of sealed play, which is great fun IMHO. Can you use a JES III or a Bellona, and win?
This may not be what people want to hear, but the fact is that in every game there are great pieces, good pieces, and ####. That's just how it is. The game designers have to tweak the stats and abilities somehow, just to keep things interesting - and not every piece will be equally playable when they do this.
with the rising prices of plastic , we can hope to see a Tamerlane Strike Sled in the next set .
no , seriously ... why do people want vehicles that can go toe-to-toe with 'Mechs ? Aren't vehicles supposed to serve as
1)distractions to 'Mechs , making them waste an action or 2 killing it off while you recoup some time
2)in the case of Mars or Kelswa ... tank drop
3)a source of weapons for 'Mech mods
Sorry, but I'm sick and tired of seeing these things. You won't believe the number of Shamashes that I pulled from the last set, or those Kites from FP..
It's simply horribly annoying to pay $10 for a booster, and pull 'common' pieces. This might work for a CCG, where you get 11-15 cards per pack, but not when you get 1 'Mech, 1 Vehicle, and 2 Infantry.
Now, in one of the upcoming sets, they did say they'd even out the 'rarity' of the rank and file pieces.. so it might be getting better.
Currently there are several hundred vehicles for Mechwarrior. If someone can find a way to make them all useful.. well... it actually be sad because someone with those brains should be bringing peace peace or curing disease and world hunger. With this many units there will usually be a better unit out there. And unless a unit is the best people will came it ####. If each set came out with the best unit everyone would be screaming about power creep and how their old collection they spent so much money on is worthless now. I don't think people would prefer if WK just made ten perfect vehicles and called it quits because nothing else would measure up. That would be boring.
Sorry people, subpar units are just part of any collectable game. I dare anyone to find me a collectable game without #### units/cards (any game with a couple expansions, it's easier to balance the first set or two before there are too many units or cards).
You would commit manslaughter to get a little plastic miniature rereleased? Looks like there are a few very friendly doctors who would like to have a word with you.
i always kinda liked the bellonas and i wouldnt mind seeing the return od vv1 rangers, shandra scout vehicles, tamerline strike sleds and fox armored cars sure i may not have used them every single game but i like having open options for my armies

I didn't specify who, but since you volunteered...*grins*
I'm sure no court in the world would convict me for ridding the world of Nanhold. ;)

1) unit needs to be fast to do this so the opponent percieves them as a possible threat rather than pushing their attack elsewhere
2) They appear to be nerfing TD by making TD worthy vehicles cap0 or just not producing TD worthy tanks.
3) more grist for jefromvegas' chop shop marvels!!!!! woohoo - best reason to have craptacular JES III's and mediocre Bellona I've seen so far :) go J!!!
4) 360 degree arcs and either multiple attacks or anti-personnel are needed otherwise they turn out to be so much strawberry jam!
5) Reactive armour (or heavy/hardened), High Defence and either a Ballistic attack type (for versatility) or TSEMP (slowing advance of vehicles and Mechs).
So all up I think the only thing these tanks (Bellona & JES III) are suited for are the Bellona = distraction (speed is OK not great for this role though) and JES III = Dep zone guards and even then they are only passable at that (medium defence, bad arcs and expensive).
Vehicles have their uses and some are going to be better than others but why reprint ones that where passable to begin with and then not even fix some of their shortcomings?
