Firstly, I don't play all mech any more than I play all mechless. That is to say,
never. I don't believe in either type of army. That's just me.
Secondly, I agreed with Trev that mechs don't require any more tweaking.
Thirdly, combined arms, to me, means mech(s) + vehicle(s) + infantry. The game
is more combined arms, now, than it ever has been. IMHO. Would you prefer it
regress back to the point where mechs were the filler (EXPENSIVE filler, at that)?
Lastly, where I play, combined arms DOES beat all mech. More often than not.
:)
'Mechs are in an OK place right now. However unless a vehicle is a transport or artillery or one of about four tanks then it is, on the whole, filler right now.
Battle armor can mass anywhere from .25 to 3 tons minus pilot and payload. as for "pulverise", they already have it, it is called a close combat attack.
The Malice according to the Blog pages from WK is 100 tons, no mech can mass more then that (Though it would be cool to have some super assault mechs. you know can barely move but can haul massive firepower)
a the average combat equipped Mech has a foot about the size of your average volkeswagon so stomping is actualy kinda impractical, as cool as it is to hear the screams of infantry in mechassault.
Inncorrect.
according to CBT fluff, line and verse: the Fafnir in it's original prototype form was 105tons. it wasn't until it went into production that developers were able to reduce the tonage to a mere 100tons. this is a published fact (wich fanpro reserves the right to change on a whim)
as for battle armor, you are also incorrect again. battle armor do start at .25 tons, but they END at 1.95 tons. battle armors such as the Kanazuchi, and Fenrir have been described as having a much smaller version of a mech copit, and thus classify as a 'protomech'. it remains to be seen what the description of the Ravager armor will turn out to be. it took until about death from above for the stats on the hauberk to become general knowledge.
This I agree with. Mechs don't need any more tweaking.
By all means, let's remove the mech from MechWarrior. After all, mechless armies
are SO MUCH MORE in the spirit of the game!
Now,Now David don't go off on that tangent again. :p People may think your serious and want to go the way of the Dodo bird. Make the mech extinct and we can can have old fashion wargames. :) If i wanted no mechs I'd play Axis and Allies.

Oy Vey, lemme guess how this started...your brother kicked Peacemakers ### with his Oni Battle Armor, and you were virtually defenseless to stop the ####ed things...I know it's something along those lines... -.-;
If you want the fluff, there are four types of 'Mech.
BattleMech
OmniMech (a subclass of BattleMech with a modular layout)
IndustrialMech (used for construction, demolition, mining, loading dropships etc)
AgroMech (used for harvesting, tree felling etc)
Most often the names are shortened. Industrial and Agro varieties were usually lumped together and referred to as "WorkMechs".
Personally I don't really see the need to have two different categories of LaborMechs. But if I have to believe Kotch, the ForestryMech is an AgroMech.
They are as much in the spirit of the game as all 'Mech armies.
This game was supposed to be about combined arms. Overdo 'Mech power and it's as Trev said. The game does not represent the fiction because anything not a 'Mech becomes filler.
And yet according to the fiction, Combined Arms beats purely 'Mech.
Go figure.
Who's fiction? The pre-FASA collapse fiction or the post-wizkids buyout fiction?

It is. In fact the AgroMech wasn't a single 'Mech it was a class of 'Mech. There were HarvesterMechs and ForestryMechs. Both were AgroMechs.
