Let's get back to that army of yours. In my opinion it could do with a few fast basers. The Steel Wolves Minigun Cycle would be rather useful for that purpose, it's fast and also useful against enemy infantry formations since it is equipped with anti-personnel. The funny thing is that the Wolf Hunters Minigun Cycle is almost exactly the same as the Steel Wolves Minigun Cycle. The only real difference is that the Wolf Hunters version has a repair marker on its second click (which also happens to be its sweet spot), while the Steel Wolves version has a repair marker on the third click (one click beyond the sweet spot). If it hadn't been for those repair markers, those Minigun Cycles would be exactly the same.

Yeah, it could. I'll try and get one and try and fit it in warbanner's force (now my official version), but I dodn't know when I'll be able to get my paws on a few, as the reason I don't play tournaments is because there isn't a good venue within 2 hours of where I live.

Shrugs and adds a couple to the package he's shipping him tomorrow...
Hail Wolves!
The loss of the Steel Wolves in future releases has made me sad of late, so I decided to post a 450 unrestricted tribute to the the Steel Wolves' memory. I have had something resembling this force forever. I Have recently come into the possesion of some more units (winks at Forsaken_Wolf), and have decided to give it an overhall, so here it is:
3 DA Hauberk BA 72 pts
1 DA Caveleir BA 16 pts
1 AoD DI Multipurpose VTOL 42 pts
1 DFA Partisians AA Vehicle 40 pts
1 AoD JI2A1 Attack APC 48 pts
1 AoD Winston Combat Vehicle 65 pts
1 AoD Blade + Galedon Military Academy Grad+ Pulse 143 pts
1 AoD Pal suit 17 pts
443 Pts (I know it ain't full, that's why I'm asking you guys. Just keep in mind I'm on a tight budget)
Current strat is for the Hauberks and JI2A1 (loaded w/ the Caveiler) sit by as a a fall back point. Late in the game the APC comes out as, well, the cavalry. The Partisian acts as a sniper, the VTOL as foreward skimisher, the Winston as a target maker while it has the beacon, but then its heavy firepower. The pal strikes at every posible situation, and the Blade is the force's blade. Don't hesitate to use your old units, this is a tribute force, and you can use any Wolves you want.
BTW this would probably be the scout force of my cluster.

hmm I don't know it has too many light skirmishes for my taste but I'm not sure.
My tribute... nothing more then the team i played at NATS. 04. It went 3 and 2 and should have been 4 and 1.... but the person I was playing stalled for like 45 seconds when he only had 2 legal moves he could have done period
geoff bekker 253
arrow 4 49
mhi aa tank 56
fenrir x 3 48
j37
and Toras zephyr
My plan worked to perfection... keep bekker behind a wall....and use the arrow 4 and infantry to move them towards me .... it was 5 of the greatest games i have played to this day... and this year... its WH PURE BABY
Here is my Khan's All-Time most-used to defeat ANYone army basic:
4x Berks =infil'd to leave a Mechbased gap
1x Forestry Mod =infil'd to that gap for the 14" 4AP damage at a 17 to hit.
That "Battle Group is my basic at 200 points.
Then I always add in an Arbie at 108
then round it out with a Std Foot and CBA's to heat-em up, shut 'em down, capture and drive off...Smash and grab Clan Wolf style!
Guys at my venues always went AAAAW! It's Timby's Wolves, when they saw them come out. I still play them, as often as possible. We do alot of Unrestricted games, and as a BM (the ONLY one left of the 5 that I sponsored) I do NOT get to play much.
Sir Brag, find someone like me (Ahem...DAD?) as my sons are the reason I got into B-Tech, all those years ago. I became a BM before I knew that they gave you points towards buying boosters and starters for running events(way back then). I just wanted to have people love and talk Mechs with me. My venues have always said that without me, it would never have worked. The other BM's that tried to get it going failed in the same stores with the same players. I had 36 as my highest ever event total, and that 1st BM was 1 of them. hehe! Get your Dad out, tell him how much this means to you, and tell him how he can keep a bunch of guys from doing "other" stuff while they are playing MW. Also, point out how he will have lots of stuff given to him by WK's that he can give to you! I think I remember you saying that your Dad may start playing?
Moral of the story: Be a MechWarrior! Be a WOLF! LOVE THE GAME!
Here Here!
Look at me! I've never played in an officail Tournament in my LIFE, and I still love the game! Life goes on, no? *sniffle* Now I'm sad too!
Hey Nanhold, gimme something strong!
I have to agree, that's #### impressive. You're just lucky to have people to play with outside of tournaments; I've never been able to get any of my friends into the game, sadly. I would recommend it, if you can find a venue. It's a great place to find new competition, new trading partners, and new tricks and strategies. Of course, you can do most of those here, too, but without the fun of playing...

*very* nice. I used to do the same with just 2 Hauberks, as I mentioned to Brag. Never considered it worth the 48 points to jump to a 17(!) attack, since the highest def was a 23 (remember the days?). Probably should've done that.
And SW CBAs and Fenrirs just plain rock. Loved using them Fenrirs; they're eclipsed a bit by the PAL suits, now.
@SirBrag - yeah, the partisan gives you AA, but not many VTOLs being brought to the table nowadays except for Bishops, and all you'll do is annoy them with a hit for 2. But you're not playing at venues, so I dunno what you're going up against.
As long as you're swallowing my advice whole :x let's see if we can't buff you up a bit more with some more classic units. On second thought, that'd probably require building a whole 'nother army. And I think the Winston's homing beacon can definitely be your friend, so maybe bring him with the Partisan/JES up to the Hauberks. That's nice. Only other suggestion I'd leave you with is this: in the post-AoD environment, lack of pushing for formation mvoement huts the Wolves. Might wanna drop the PAL suit for Faction Pride.
In the old times, Mechwarrior Kendrick Fetradral was my favorite unit. This warrior was in my first tournament army (4th place of 8th), in my first tournament victory, in the faction wars... Today, as a contribution four your tread, I give you one of the armies I designed with him:
Kendrick Fetradral 129pts
Arbalest :^: 108pts
Fenrir BA x3 48pts
Trike Squad x3 39pts
Arrow Arty Tank 49pts
J37 Ordnance transport 30pts
Partisan AA Vehicle 40pts
Tora´s Unruly Mob 7pts
450pts
A combined approach, which is my particular combat style. The mechs provide the heavy firepower, while the infantry provides assistance and support. I use the arty to force my opponent to move and control his pace. The partisan is optional, providing AA support if it is neccesary.
@Warbanner
I'm not just swallowing your advice, your version just showed a lot more possibility (plus it added up to 450). BTW My current major opponent Is a VTOL heavy Liao player (snicker, got a trade going with him on monday, most of my Liaos for a bunch of wolves), so I've got be on my gaurd. Plus, I hate infantry drops from VTOLs, they're so annoying.
@Hcomp
thank you, I try
@ TW1Kell
Tried that, didn't work, Dad has no time. He's cool but very busy.
@All who posted forces
Fine tributes and Forces, one and all!
