I think the new (and the old) Amphibious APCs are too overpriced for what they can do. The most expensive version will cost you 44 pts. and for two points less you can get a WH R10 with a transport capacity of 3.
I would like to see a new version of the older Anat or Giggins APC, with their point values of 25-30.

I think that WK is releasing more expensive transport to avoid armies without a mech and with dozens of drops. But, at least, these more expensive figures have more utilities than just drop... Now they have more clicks e can shot others pieces.
I think this point cost creep has everything to do w/ the move to 600 point standard for constructed games. W/c is why Annihilation is going the way of the dodo this January. Just my two cents.
Well, that goes without saying. The best way to use Towed Gauss Rifles is to use three of them in a firing formation after deploying them from a cap 3 transport vehicle. It's actually exactly the same tactic as used with the Towed Autocannons from quite a few expansions ago.
Wow, now it will cost around 115 points to drop three TGRs to do maybe three damage. That is a lot of points (75 for 3xTGRs and around 40 for a cap-3 transport).
I also do not get the Wolf-Hunter version. You drop to do 2-damage and hope that they do not have armor?
I guess if you are looking for a couple of pieces to create a formation with a mech, these will do the job. I just do not see them surviving long after the drop. Though the addition of armor will help their survivability.
At any rate, these non-mech units are getting increasingly useful w/ each expansion. Smaller ratio of "duds" IMHO.
The Amphib APCs seem to be combat ready after they drop their payload. I am just slightly amused by the fact that Davion gets Hardened Armor on its APC. Kinda weird considering that would be Kurita's department.
Actually since the new First Prince is a tanker I am not suprised. Of course he got his last tank shot out from under him and I am sure the next time he enters the battlefield he will have one of these close by to get into instead of spending weeks with a known enemy ....
What is this? Towed guns in an era of bipedal armored behemoths?
Should we be getting SP guns?
Well they do have self propelled guns. They're called tanks.
Explain why having mechs would preclude having towed/man portable infantry support guns? They dont usually come in the size of a whole Gauss rifle, but it's not unusual. It gives them a support piece that's relatively cheap compared to an organic tank unit or IFV. It's also canon CBT, so it's not like Wizkids pulled it out of whole cloth either.
Well The old ones have Cap 2 I'm willing to bet these are the same. Nice, glad everyone has soem TGRs now.
guess again. unless we pull in units from the Dragon's fury, those of us from House Kurita do not have -ANY- infantry with a range over 8 inches. and NO we did not get any of the LRM Launchers or Towed Gauss Riffles.
.... would have been nice to have seen House kurita get a 12 inche range on an infantry, but then again, i doubt it would have worked out given our plummeting dammage value and soauring attack value paradigm.

Somehow I don't think that the TGR is as heavy as a regular Gauss rifle. There are even Gauss-type weapons mounted on Battle Armors and available as standard infantry weapons, after all.
Towed weapons are certainly canon when looked upon from a BattleTech perspective. There's even a BattleTech miniature of a towed Long Tom artillery gun. Frankly I'm a little surprised that we haven't seen any Towed PPCs yet.
