Elite let us know if when theres a National 2007, i hadnt thought there would be one after last "Spellenspektakel" showed so much interest in mech. though admit didnt really bother checking out. kinda expected there wouldnt be one.


I doubt i could go to EC basicly cost-related and level of play is abit above my league i suppose compared to Ian, Brinxter and yours truely, (though particpating at EC 2005 was fun enough)

BTW end of November we might hold a big mech bash thing i aint sure what the format will be and how much space we have for our small group if we make anything like an official tourney i d give you a headsup. Its still in the works. Do know DC always looks forward battling with you.

All the more reason for me to make October's slugfest. If and when I get some dates for when the MW tournament will be I'll try and get it fit in around everything else that happens in October. Which happens to be about six Board meetings across three weeks so it's going to be touch and go whether I can wrangle that much time away (let alone afford it!!!). However my plan is to drop the wife and kids off at her parents and make my way from South Wales. We'll see what happens. Like I said, my attendance is intended but it all depends on dates.

As for Paris Gencon 2007, I may try and make that but it'll mean taking a lot longer than a couple of days because if I'm going to Paris, I'm taking the wife and probably the kids too.

My main fear of going to any events is being shepherded into a BMing role rather than a playing one. They've tried that on me before!! ;)

talking bout Gencon 2007, I might go myself if i can scrounge up the cash and find a way to get there. (who knows more from here might join me) would be cool to see more of realms and a few familiar faces from 2005.

Let's see I asked about the inventory manager. I got a link to the Newbie guide. I'm a fan of Steiner so I'm probably gonna look at getting them, and their allies. Or maybe some other faction, i haven't really decided yet.

I kinda like having a few small fast units, and something with really long range and high damage sitting back sniping. Recommendations?

One thing you'll find is that sitting back and sniping is a bit harder to do in this game, as the combination of a time limit, small-size of battlefield, and the assault order make it so that nowhere on the board is truly safe for long.

That said, there are quite a number of decent sniper units - you just have to realize that to be an effective sniper in MW, you need both range _and_ speed. Probably the best sniper units in the game are the Shiros, though they don't qualify as "small" seeing as how they are Heavy 'Mechs. With their 18" range, and decent speeds, they have the best ranges in the game. After that, you can look at Clan Nova Cat's units for a variety of 16" energy weapons with decent speeds - for small units, the Phoenix Hawk I is probably the best bet, but if you're willing to go heavier, the Nova Cats pack a good punch with an excellent range.

For House Steiner, in particular, I find "Verfinsterung" to be a decent sniper, though in a bit of a different way. The range is a bit short for a sniper (12"), but it has Streak Missiles (which work completely differently than they do in CBT), so you can hide behind buildings and snipe from there. I always like the Hellions, though I find the Republic Hellion to be better, the Steiner one isn't bad. The Steiner Stalking Spider, is also a pretty good 'Mech. I'm sure I'll have several people disputing my picks, as I'm only an on-again, off-again Steiner player. I recommend listening to more experienced folk for better advice on that score.

I have one myself, it's amazing. People overlook it b/c it doesn't have Pulse on its 5 damage, I think that's a mistake. Just sit it in hindering terrain with a +2 att +1 def pilot at least and a coolant truck and you can have a hayday with it.

It has camo, a 5 damage energy at 14", and brawling if that darn mech gets too close.

Very nice. I actually like that pulse comes in later. It keeps the damage sustained through all of it's clicks. It doesn't drop from 10 to 3 in one click like some of the other varients.

Is there any good place online tp pick up singles? Or should i just post in the trade forum?

I bought one Firepower booster at Origins and got a couple of nice figs. Plus the Con Atlas. I'm not sure I really wanna part with the Atlas though.
