I think I should be picked b/c of I am good and strong and have many figures and like hamburgers and am in a clan that is the 7th largest and it is fun and I am good. The end. P.S. pick me.
But seriously, I am sure many of my fellow realmers would like to have a shot at ripping my arms out and displaying my head on a stake (figuratively speaking for most ;) ). A pity that I will probably not be able to make the trip.
Its an interesting Idea, but how many people are gonna bring there piles of "less played" figures to build armies out of?
I (and most others) will have one backpack full of figs to work with, which is really not much, when the list gets narrowed down to 40-50 figs.
A better suggestion for a format:
Sit 4 players at a table, and put a pile of 60 or so figures in front of them. They take turns rochester drafting from the pool 10 figures, and then have to build a 200 army from the figs they draft. You play 2 rounds against players from your table, then are retabled to play again with a new pool of 60 figs. Do this 3 times and you have a 6 round tournament.
combines elements of constructed and drafting, with out having the luck of people pulling really good figs or really bad. You can try to concentrate on combos or formations, but since only 8 or so figs are available from any faction that if 2 or 3 players want them then they wont get enough. Each pool of figs could have zany mixes as well(one with a very little range, one with a bunch of ####, one with a bunch of combos, one with a bunch of shyft/MS, etc)
with a 16 person tournament the warlord only need to cough up 240 figs, which will be returned in the end. No mess for players, and fun interesting format with plenty of room to out think your opponents.
BShugg- Good points. But, in reality, you don't have to bring all 200 figures to compete. If there are figures you're sure you won't use, just leave them at home. That said, 200 figures is a lot, and most people will be flying as opposed to driving, so I'll see what I can do about cutting down that list. It may be that 150 figures is just as feasible as 200.
Ku- I'm still considering going to GenCon. If I do decide to go, I will almost certainly run something like this there as well.
I.D.- Resumes will be accepted starting early next week.
dfaz- I'm in the same boat you are in terms of working for WK. I will DEFINITELY be running the event during the night session on Friday. I'd prefer to go like 7 rounds over the day and night sessions, but I'm also open to starting at 6 or 7 and running into the wee hours of the morning. If more people give me feedback one way or the other, that would help.
Man, this just keeps getting better and better and making me madder and madder that the IRS is still jerking me around! Maybe I can turn my bottles and cans in. ARGGHH!!! I WANT TO KICK ALL OF YOUR BUTTS BUT MY DARN LEGS ARE TOO SHORT! I'll decide within the next few days whether or not to spend the money and just trust that the IRS will really ever send me my check that I filed for in mid February. Am I prominent enough? Or is there another word that might too often replace prominent?
I'm more than happy to try to bring a cross-section of clan champions to the Invitational. But since there are going to be clan-specific events occurring later in the summer, the focus of this tournament won't be on clans. The focus is to reward people who've put a lot of time and effort into making the MKRealms forums a great place to visit for MK fans. If those same people happen to be clan members, so be it.
altan: You know you want to come. Just do it! You'd be a pretty strong candidate to play in the Invitational, so keep that in mind...
I would give my left arm (not my clicking hand) to play in this tourney. I read about this night and had visioins of Wood Golems and Crossbowman dance through my head all night. I'm a poor college student who lives in Oregon, and I'd sell my soul if it'll get me a plain ticket there.
So do us little guys even have a chance? I've only been a member since 4/20 and only have 138 posts? (3.2 a day) So will people like me even be taken into consideration or are you just going to pick people with 1000+ posts?
The users with the higest post counts won't be the only ones considered, while post count will be looked at so will other factors, which is why we want the resume. Tell us what you've played in and how you've done, a solid ranking and battle record.
Theres also the fact that a lot of Realmers won't be at Origins so quite a few who would probably make it won't be there, so there are always openings.
I was thinking the same thing battle_tank1, where and when (or what day is this tourny planned for) is Origins for im to lazy to go and search the net and im here a lot anyways lol. good ideas either way :) hopefully theres a chance of me going, but that depends mainly on time...
