I would have to go with tim, if you don't like the ranged rules make exceptions while playing in a friendly game :D. If ranged could be performed on melee everything with MB would be unstopable, you struggle to get into melee with it only to hit it once,get MB'd again and die. I think wizkids did a decent job on the combat rules :p
we've experienced the power of being able to shoot into melee the very 1st time me and my best friend tried out MK. we bought 2starters and 6 boosters, opened them, read a few rules and just went on into playing so naturally we seem to miss the part of unable to fire on an enemy in b2b with a friendly unit. so my werebear went in and b2b 1 of his units ( i forgot what fig), being confident that with the werebear stats going up in middial that i dont care if he hit first. well, he shot the werebear with 3 of his range units and the result, dead werebear and the unit it b2b didnt even moved a muscle! :mad: well, to make that game short i got clobbered by that miss on the rules and we both just laugh at it the moment we went through the rules thoroughly and found out that what he did was illegal. :)
what i would suggest is that making range SAs able to effect while in b2b such as pierce, magic freeze et al. i mean, wouldnt thunder golem shoot his bazooka at the enemy coz now its melee? whats he gonna do, put it down and duke it out coz the enemy got close? :rolleyes: i think those would be the better improvements for range units. ;)
