I don't quite agree here , Brutal.
There's a big difference in this game between 12" and 14".
A lot of armies/formations/figures can deal with 12" shooters cause they can base them the turn after they took their shot.
14" gives you just those 2 extra inches of distance that prevents the opponent from basing you on the next turn.
(only a few quality figs move 14 inches , eg Fell Reaper)
Corpheus looks and probably will be an intimidating figure ,
just like the HOST is ,
the only thing that still balances them out is that after their shot
they are less than 12 inches away from you (b2b).
When we were first testing him out my friend and I were trying to stop him from getting first strike; don't do that. He is going to hit atleast one person, live with it and make sure he doesn't keep hitting your people.
In more recent trials 10+ attack 15" bounders have really helped since he can either cripple one or spread the damage.
Two groups of 3 ***Amotep gunners has also been doing wonders since after his first strike as a formation they'll need either a 6(if the formation is flamed) or a 4(if one is hit) to hit him for three.
I think a single squad of Gunners with a bounder would do even better than either alone, but didn't get a chance to test that one.
Back either with a good healer(C. Priest, Krugg Seer, EGM, ***Shaman can sometimes get the job done) and they'll fairly easily live through Corpheus' attack and be in good shape to take out his support.
The two groups of amoteps isn't something I use often, but Scorpems, Athene, Trackers and a good healer are and(IMO, but I'm alittle biased) my armies are competative and don't crumble before anything that isn't Corpheus.
After these tests I wouldn't be surprised if some people don't have to change their play style or army building habits to successfully take him out.
Bachus, Striker and the *OSTs are probably going to prove themselves to be the more difficult of pieces to kill.
I think you're right on Rynth.
Two bounders (Tracker and scorpem) should be able to do the trick.
Set them up between 12.5" and 15" range with the Tracker blocking LOS for Scorpem.
If Corpheus bites and hits the Tracker it's only three damage.
One hit from Scorpem and it's basically over for Corpheus.
afterthought :
Corpheus might be the first fig that carries a Centaur Medic with him in EVERY army.
Those of you that say Corpheus is overrated because it can be beaten are, I believe, ignoring the real problem. Yes, ML/Ram can beat it. Yes a stonethrower could beat it. Yes, two scorpems and an avante reaver could beat it. The problem is that the creation of this single piece further sends MK in the direction of narrow army builds. No single army has dominated the MK universe since I've been playing, but there have always been a mere 5-6 that are viable at any given time. Creating a 22" boudner doesn't give us more options for builds, rather it narrows how we will make armies in the future, which is the real problem.
I agree , moose.
I get that MTG feeling , where cards always have to be better than the former expansion.
Instead of "broadening" our options with the release of new figures , one may argue that they actually "narrow" our options.
Maybe instead of just releasing more and more powerful figures
WK should take a look at the earlier figs that' don't see play anymore and find a way to get them involved again.
Maybe the BPR Force Marcher can blow some life in the Dwarves.
Isn't the pack that he comes in called "Magestone"?
Like the recent Vampire Civil War scenario, using Dungeons rules and Dungeons tile set, but Necropolis units as the opposition or 'MageSpawn' pool, I think that this scenario will call for the opposition or 'MageSpawn' pool to be composed of AG units.
So, Corpheus fulfills both criteria. It carries AG for its faction affiliation, but takes the role of the opposer in the this scenario, earning the 'MageSpawn' moniker for this scenario specifically.
I agree too. It seems that EVERY collectible game I get into has the same problem; after awhile, there really are only a few deck/army/whatever builds that are viable anymore. I have NO idea what WK was thinking on this one, but I hope and pray that it's either a deplayed April Fools, or it's a piece that'll get erratad out of existance REAL fast.
In any case, I'll be announcing before EVERY tournament that I run as a Warlord that a select few figures will be banned from the tournament. I'm thinking this one'll be topping my list most of the time. OH, and before I start a flame war about not being able to do that because of the WK ruling against house rules, that only says that you can't include house rules unless you tell everyone before the tournament itself.
So.. you are going to ban a figure because you say so?
I just can't agree.
Everyone has said it's not broken.

Yeah, then die horrid against a Ram army.
And i don't know.. but if i had a Corpheus in play.. i wouldn't get into 2 formations of Gunners range...
It's not like.. 4 figures with ram will kill him.. yeah it might be.. just watch out next round against a Trolls Turtle.
My point: Sure.. an army made to beat Corpheus.. is actually going to beat it, too bad you can't do this on a T.
The only problem is, he can hit from 22 inches away for 4 damage (his attack is 13). IF you can get close to him, then yo ucan attack, but he can still bound away 10 inches and hit you again. I bought 4 of him at the Con to trade away and I really think that for 128 points he's worth it. Tough to take down, even if yo uram him. Also, the crystal sprite has a def of 19! Holy ####!.
i think he can easily b swarmed, ooopps, i forgot the 3 clicks of bound. hate to say this but i hate this fig. wanna know y. COZ IM A MELEE ATTACK LOVER. enwei, with 18 defense it can easily hit by my artillerist. hehehe! "try and hit one of my trolls and ur dead!"
People said the same thing when they saw Taskmaster. Really all this means is that all of us have to take MK to the next level. Step up and show people that NOTHING is "broken" everything has a weakness its all about finding it and exploiting it.
