You might not be getting the most recent LE's right now, but neither are we. Most of our tournaments that aren't involved with the Campaigns still are receiving WW LE's. Most of the Sinister LE's haven't been released to the mass public yet. We're getting four LE's that I'm sure you'll get in due time, we just happen to get it earlier because we are the country of WK. Don't rule yourself out just yet, this is the first time WK is doing this kind of thing, it's like a infant learning to walk, take one step at a time.
Veralidaine, your point is even more serious than the actual LE distribution issue. If we're actually prevented from competing in campaigns by WK's actions (and I doubt we're the only country) then the "world" rankings become a mockery. If the rankings become the basis for entry into major tournaments, then the system is totally unfair.
You check the Wizkids site now and see how many people outside the US and Canada are ranked in the top 100 in the"world" - not 1!
It isn't, because of my knowledge, you play on your turf against your players. That means no one gets the advantage in the rankings, you can score more points than the U.S, you just haven't yet.
Juzam the reason why most of the top 100 players are from the US or Canada is because WizKids hasn't started accepting oversea's points into their database yet. Even if they did I wonder how well croftminsters record keeping it.
That's provided other countries are able to play the same scenarios, and are given the same packs and same prizes. Remains to be seen.
What I've heard from people is that WK are just plain resistant to giving them to us. If that's the case, then I don't know what the reason is.
I guess my point is if a plane is going to take off, it shouldn't do it while half the passengers are still getting on board. Let me tell you, from where we stand, it is extremely frustrating to see all this campaign activity week after week, and not be able to take part at the same level.
I don't see how there resistant to giving you anything. As I said, your going to get your prizes, your going to do the Campaigs, I can tell people don't give a hoot for getting the "premium figures". Besides how many are there right now? WK isn't big and they just can't go running off giving you everything you want, they have to test the waters. Your distributor should also have the responsibility of providing you with the Campaigns and whatnot, WK is doing the best they can now, don't go off and say there not trying, they don't have money they can just invest all over.
I don't want to labour on this point but some clarification from WK would be good. I don't think either of us are in a position to comment on their available capital, but that's not the point.
If there is a schedule and guidelines to their running of campaigns for other countries, then terrific - could someone please direct me to them. It'd be nice to know exactly what the situation is - ás long as we don't get the mushroom treatment.
I know that. Its not just that (the LE's) Australia can't compete in the campaigns. Actually at the beginning of the campaign's it stated in the rule that you must be in the US. This was changed within a week to include Canada after they complained but as far as I know only Canada and the US are able to play, if I'm incorrect feel free to correct me. As for the idea I suggested in my last post this could work for all countries not just Australia.
And Azkael even if we win local tournaments and the like we are still not in the tournament database on the Wizkids site as they only seem to be entering certain countries. I'd be curious to see where the 'World Champion' sits on the Wizkids database, if he even exists. Since Australia has the world champion and Singapore the runner up shouldn't they show up in at least the top 20? (OK I just checked and Singapore scores show up but the Australian ones still don't)
However this is also bad for players in the US and Canada as they have no idea of the skill level of the players that they may play. We can look up win-loss records of the US and Canadian players and get a rough idea of how well they are doing but the reverse isn't true.
Heck, good point. But, you might have the world's greatest MageKnight player right on your noses, most people don't bother with rankings, and they basically aren't very accurate.
You do have the upper advantage in seeing the skills of players, so there's no point in complaining, no one does anyway. We might not be able to see your rankings, but it doesn't seem anyone cares, but I'm sure sooner or later WK will enter more countries in.
At gencon the sinister LEs seemed to be flowing pretty heavily. I saw 1 kid about 12 or so carrying around a box and I mean a big box full of sinister LEs trading them at booths. Then I saw an older guy doing the same thing. I can't say an exact number of LEs but I would say between 24 and 48 per box.
So gencon had them out in force.
One thing to remember is that Wizkids might not be etending the LEs overseas because it would spread them too thin. In all honesty, they are having enough problems getting Campaign packs to all the venues in the US and the redemption for the warlord LEs is listed as 6-8 weeks.
I'm not sure anyone would be any hapier if Wizkids said "OK, we'll support all your games" and then you never got the scenario packs and the redemptions took 6 months. In fact, that would probably upset me more, knowing that they were coming and it would take forever.
Wizkids is still growing and I'm sure they are going to support everyone, when they can. Apparently, right now, that's not possible.
I think what we do need is clarification of the distribution plans of WK (like was mentioned). I understand WK is new and that they are growing...but they have enough data now (after a year) that they should be able to set up some good plans now.
Distribution issues are the bane of most companies that have to ship things. That is something that WK has to deal with - and fast. Then if they are smart they will also let us consumers in on their plans....so we aren't complaining about it because we "know" they will get to us on XXXX schedule.
There were meetings going on throughout Gen Con with Distributers and WizKids trying to rectify this particular problem. WizKids are trying to make this work for all of us and our distrubuter tells me that they think they have it sorted and things will improve over the next few months.
