now that's the spirit reimonte! we don't need those kind of figs. Anyway corpheus is not that strong to ML/Ram army but challenging striker or stomper he would be dead for sure and any combination of good army such as formation of crystal protector would beat corpheus then fast flying creature or chargers would really threaten him. just my opinion.
remember back in rebellion when the guild had the red gunners, elemental had the red arties, bp had the red steam golems, necro had the red night stalkers, ki had the red guardsmen, orcs got shafted but .. well it happens.. you each had your power figure and non were over powered... there was a balance and it encouraged tactics ... i encourage more venues to start running "no unique" campaigns.. and remember le's are considered uniques.. it brings out a new level of play... also ban multidials and titans... i call it the lactose intollerant tourney.. no cheese!!!
10''bound
11shockwave
20limited invisibility "or maybe pole arm"
2damage
10" range
Dies in 2-3 clicks
and around 100-120 points.
after one click it drops bound, and gains flight 10, then drops to 5
attack drops to 9, then drops to 6 without shockwave
defence drops to 19, then 18 then dies
damage is drops to 1 and stays that way till dead two clicks later.
I feel as though it would be really fun and chalanging to play
Ive lost my faith with Wizkids, I cant get into MW or HC for fear it will turn out like MK. It annoys me so much that we used to be able to field an army with mainly figs costing less than 50 points and now the standard is to have just about every fig over 100 points.
I, like many others here, want MK the way it used to be. When, as has been said, most of the figs were playable and totaly new strats were thought up on a weekly basis. The biggest problem now is for WK to backtrack, they cant. The only thing they can do is set up a DCI type system and ban 2-3 of the figs that are seen in EVERY army OR set up a tourny 'type' wherein, whats tournament legal flows with the current sets. Option 1 would be the immediate fix and option 2 would be the long term fix.
Yes people, I know I railed against the idea in the past, and yes I realise its not exactly a fan favourite idea but WK must go the way of Magic. Look at Alpha and Beta magic, NO ONE could justify playing half the cards from the first sets in current tourny play!

I thought I mentioned that, IF I build a "hate" army I can kill Corpheus.
BUT it's only to obvious that when I want to play a formation and someone is playing Corpheus I'm toast.
I don't want to play a hate army every time I play competively, you can see for yourself that in the "Campaign" armies you mostly see Adracs and Corpheus popping up whereas it should be about Orcs and Knights.
I agree with building armies that actually use tactics rather than pure cheese armies. Corpeus is a cheese fig. He can be beaten, just to many people are willing to use him. I am still all about my red arties and will never give them up. Corpheus maybe able to take out one of them but chances are the othr one will hit him. That one hit is all that is required to get rid of his bound, which is the real threat. One time I ran into three corpheus armies at a tourney. I was beaten so I got ahold of a corphy and annihilated those little kids, but it wasn't fun and I havn't used it since. They still ask if I still have a corphy.
the fact that Corpheus' powerful stats has caught our attention and moved us to have this debate is proof enough that Corpheus is in fact broken. come on, people, a figure that can waltz 10 inches and then hit your figure 12 inches away is NOT too much? really, now? come on. while it is true that he is not unbeatable, he is way too powerful for 128 pts. with F/L, 3-targets, he was designed to toast most formations. he is a nuisance to melee lovers. he even has high attack and defense ratings. he is a broken monster. whoever designed it must be a lover of cheese.
I'm glad to see there are a lot more people out there with the right thought in mind. Maybe if we get this post up long enough and enough people Wizkids might see the light. Stop making broken figures and ban the already released versions. If every other gaming company like Warhammer and Magic can do it, then why can't they? Forget the cheese and bring back the real Rebellion!!!!
corpheus is great and i have played him before. a powerful piece he is, but i do not feel he is broken. the only thing you are limited to playing is formations without toughness. i feel that i am a competent player, i have won my share of campaigns ant local tourneys. corpheus died both times i played him. all you have to play to beat him is a few pieces with a 12 or 14" range, but not together. he can only hit one at a time, or all for just one click! allowing you to fire back with your remaining pieces. he falls off quickly.
I can't believe people are still bithcing about Corpheus!!! Yes, it is a powerfull figure but like any other figure in the game, it can be beaten. You don't need a super figure to do it, just some good tactics.
I also can't believe people are still complaining about "useless figures". Has anyone heard about a little thing called "Conquest?" With a lot of the rule changes for Conquest, all those "useless" figures become quite powerful. 5 ***Longbow Archers in a Conquest game can be very devestating. Let's see, 14" range, 10 attack, and 6 damage all for one action!!! This type of formation tears holes in the big, bad, "broken figures"
I've got a friend who wants to quit Mage Knight because of Corpheus... I told him he was just a god #### baby, quit the crying and work out a new strategy; if not, here's $100.00 for your collection.
I don't mean to sound holyer than thou but come on, let's play the game instead of quitting because the next big thing is released.
I'm inclined to agree with Kall...if WizKids is gonna give the range-fanatics a guy with 9" Bound & 12" Range, then they aught to give the combat-zealots something similar, to balance it out.
I gotta say Colt, if you search for posts by me your bound to find me ranting just like you. Ive not had the chance to face Corphy yet as I very rarely play since my Venue started tampering with boosters and I started boycotting it.
Corphy, I gotta agree with you Colt, he is beatable. The problem with him and OST and Striker etc. is that they narrow the play style. When I play I want to have a half dozen figs in a 200 pt. game, not 2-3. I cannot stand this whole geurilla style of play, it drives me nuts. Sure he can be beaten, but hes a major factor in the current game that is leading to this idea of a 3 fig 300 pt. army.
The problem I see is that most people won't look at such a figure as problem that needs to be solved, most people automatically look at it like "oh it's a broken figure, I'll never beat that. It's too tough, I'm just going to boycott Mage Knight because this problem will never happen in HeroClix or Mechwarrior"
You said so yourself, you don't like the guerilla style of play these figures present, however, I don't think you're willing to quit the game all together and pickett the WizKids office. No, it's just another obstacle to overcome.
Remenber back in the day when the "Death Star" was the biggest and baddest thing and guess what, it's now easily overcome. The same thing will happem with Corphey and all the other so called "broken" figures
Corpheus... A strong piece but ultimately useless. I mean yea sure, he attacks like the great fire dragon accept for about 3 or 4 damage, but all you gotta do is corner him. I was playing a 200pt army to celebrate my first army ever (when I thought power was everything and didn't know many of the rules) Which was a blue nightstalker, and imp, a yellow shaman and the good ol' Hierophant. I cornered Corph, and he was as good as dead. The piece drops dramatically like a nightstalker. However, I am not happy with how ranged combat is what this game is all about. I mean, sure, there are some nice powerhouse melee pieces, but show them bound and buh-bye. I think there should be some sort of "Super Charger" piece. I mean, the Shadow in Minions is a nice start: LI and Charge. Add an inch or two on speed, and make sure that the damage is either 3 or 4 (I believe it's three...) and things are good.
However, if you wanna complain about Heroic Quest pieces, devastating as Corpheus is, look at the one with the Elven Demi-Magus model (can't remember name.) 14" range with MB and ML. That beats out the Magus for about 50pts.
Finally, I completely agree with the statements about having armies of lesser pieces: a dozen non-u's for your points' worth. Ever since I pulled a Paladin Prince, I've taken heavily to the KI. I keep him with a bunch of reds (2x Temple Blade, 2x Faith Healer). It's a nice combo b/c of the MI, and fits into a 200pt base. As guilty as I am of using powerhouse pieces making smaller armies at times, I personally like the concept of weaker pieces making up a nice little swarm.
