Why in the world does everyone complain so much about Magic Freeze on the Regal?
If you want to shoot multiple targets, you only do one damage anyway! Adding in the possibility of giving them an action token is pure bonus! And it potentially contributes extra damage if the model is already pushed.
Maybe I'm going out on a limb, but the real reason people don't like the Regal is that its MI prevents them from enhancing the multiple shots...which is a pretty good indication that ME is badly overpowered if having MI is that much of a liability!

I personally do not use the Regal Draconum that much. Yes, it is a very expesive piece and yes Magic Freeze is not one of the most reliable abilities out there. But under the right circumstances, the Regal can be a great asset. Roll well enough and you can lock down an entire formation of lesser warriors. While the Regal is a very powerful piece, I only use it in fun casual games (if I want to spend 174 pts. on one piece).

One more thing: I wouldn't dismiss the Draconum as mere trade fodder to snatch good figs from newbies. There are some very good playable Draconum:

Amazon, Bladesmith, Eldritch, Mortis, Hierophant, Magestone, and Vampiric are my top picks from the faction. They are all excellent pieces.

True those are the more playable of the dracs (lets not forget the demiphant and Magna) but all of them can see a good action an can be usefull. I played my Regal lately for the first time (it was in my box waiting for action) abd I can tell you I was not disapointed. 180 degree arc and 14 inches is great! Not many figure have the same. Add a tank like defense, a 14 attack score!, and MF, wich is a good bonus and you git a very strong piece. I nailed down entire formations with the regal. Even if you dont roll a 4-5-6 every time, you still hit 4 targets!!!!!!! chances are that you'll get a 4-5-6 at least once right? Wich is enough to scrap a formation

I always use Creator over Regal. I think MF should be in the attack slot. as it is vulnerable to capturing (when a small figure gets based or is in range and has to hit crits just to do one damage why not try to capture??) I am NOT saying it is easy to capture (21 vs capture).

Although th emore I look at it the more I like it. it keeps 5 damage for 2 clicks.

Id say in conquest put him backed by paladin prince and chariot and you got an unstoppable force.

well, i dont use Regal, simply because it is way overpriced. Striker has greater mobility and Creator is better for the pts, IMO.

Oh, and i am 15, but no newb. been playing since November 2000, since the frikkin game came out.

if it didnt move so friggin slow i would prob use it over creator.

but moving 8 to creator's 14 is horrible

if it was a 14 i would def use it or even a 12. 10 would make me think twice but 8 is horrible.

Maybe there should be a new "poster child" in the banner. Anyone up for the Amazon Drac?:D
