When stomper gets hit for four, astrus needs a five to hit em and heal em to full strength instantly. Not only that, stompers 13 attack means he's likely to crush everything he faces easily, needing a 6 to hit a 19 defence. With this in mind, i headed into the last match in a tournement, undefeated and not having lost a peice yet. Worse than that, this kid has almost the exact same army. Guess what, i don't hit, EVER. I needed 5's to heal, and missed every single time. Thats right, i missed 5s, 8 TIMES!!! Not only that, i couldn't hit the broad side of the stomper. I missed around 20 times that match, and didn't kill a single thing.
Not to mention the fact i didn't pull any uniques out of Whirlwind, Dungeons or Sinister, hows that for luck?
This reminds me of the humbling experience I had at Week 1 of the Prieska Road campaign.
Picture this:
There are 8 people in the tournament to start, 2 17 year olds, 1 16 year old, 5 14 year olds, and 1 13 year old. I'm one of the 15s.
That's rather unimportant. Anyways, in match 1, my luck was so incredible I considered having the dice I was using braced to prevent damage from ever wearing them down. I made a desperate attempt to charge and attack with my Light Lancer, and rolled a critical hit, actually putting me in a position where I could win, instead or forstalling defeat. Then, at the end, it is my Thunder Golem vs his Storm Golem. He rolls to defeat me, needing a 3 or 4. Critical Miss. I roll to attack, Critical Hit, Storm dead.
In the second game I had above-average dice rolls, but nothing particularly special, besides one unimportant critical hit, when I was already winning easily.
The third game, championship match. Me vs Orc Raider player Andrew...he had a sniper army, (Thunder Golem like me, invisibility paired with Chaos Mage, etc.). We maneuver and get in small skirmishes for about 30 mins. Slow game. I'm getting below-average rolls. I've rolled two 3s and one critical miss already. No pieces dead yet. Suddenly, my opponent makes a crucial mistake: After my Light Lancer rolled a 2 and failed to hit his Chaos Mage, who now has ML, he lifts me 10 inches, and turns his attention to my now vulnerable army through his thunder golem.
I see it. Victory is in my grasp. The game time is 44 minutes, 6 minutes left. I just need to kill one piece. He left my charger in range to deal the finishing blow to Chaos Mage. He sees it, too, and smacks himself, ready to lose. I charge up, needing a 3, to win the game. People watch, some already congratulating me. I roll the dice. One stops, a 1. A few people gasp. The other rolls...more...more...more....and stops. Another 1. My Light Lancer gets a critical miss. Everybody gasps, my opponent sighs in relief. I'm stunned. My dice have betrayed me, in the match that matters most.
My opponent, probably in elation, moves his Thunder Golem dangerously close to me to finish me off. 1 minute left. I push MY Thunder Golem to attack his, after moving a Crystal Protector out of the way. He sees it, and looks annoyed at his error, but knows that his TG still has 5 clicks left, and I only do 4. I roll the dice, ready to lose. Critical Hit. 5 damage. Thunder Golem is dead. He gives it 5 clicks, declares it dead, and 2 seconds later, the Warlord signals the match over.
Closest, most sweat-inducing game I (and probably my opponent) have ever been in.
However, I have one bad luck story. A few months ago I was in a Conquest and played a Radiant Light Dragon. My opponent based my front arc & one wing with 2 wounded Troll Artillerists, so I couldn't take a ranged shot. In my first action I took shots to take care of the pesky trolls, and fumbled both times. On the next turn I pushed to break away and rolled a 1. I ended up failing to break away on my next 2 tries. I mean come on...what's the odds of that. The time ran out with my dragon tied up almost the entire last 15 minutes. Pitiful
Heheh... I haven't had an amzingly bad luck streak for about half a year, now. Ever since that reverse game I played with Tornth... :)
All I can say is that, at its best, I was able to take down a Living Ballista from full to dead with 2 ** Nightstalkers and a HTB, all at full health. Right now I'm running with an average of about 8 for my die rolls. Most of the misses, though, are just plain misses, of which I'm happy.

Chalk up another bad luck for me, this particular experiance of Psionystic's came against me. I was so mad, stupid Living Balista.
When I'm hungry all the bad lucks stick to me and I'm always caught hungry when the 3rd to 4th round of the tourney then I can't think clear anymore and snake eyes always come out. :D
I once lost a game because I couldn't breakaway a bounder... It was one of those game changing parts where if you get it, you win, or if you fail, you lose. I had corpheus, who had been hurt, but still had bound, and so of course I jinx myself when i say aloud, "Just can't get a one"... Corpheus then got hit for 3 damage from a hurt Magus and then 2 damage from some weak figure that I can't even remember.
Missing more than 15 times in a row was balanced out by the tournament before, my summoner was on its last click of death pushed with a wounded mountain king in base, i pushed my orc slaver to hit the mountain king, i hit and knocked off the kings ram, on his turn he broke the king and tried to heal he failed ( why he didn't attack i don't know) I heeled my summoner for 6clicks, back to full health and then magic blasted the king for 6 clicks, killing it.
I dunno, but on week 1 of OR/KI, I pushed my Chaos from behind Blocking to MB a Guy woth 15 health, A hurt Sislith Tracker, and CRITICAL MISSED. Then, when I tried to heal with my Shamans, I missed again! This happened in EVERY GAME! All this, and I still won the tournament, dishing out 8 clicks of MB damage to a Striker. :D
I was going into my second match and together me and my opponent had 42 points
and I think that together during the first round we made less than 10 succesful rolls.
