Unless MageKnight comes with some more new abilities soon, I'm getting out of it for money reasons. Uprising doesn't sound THAT great. Mechwarrior has taken over my budget since October.
I agree that wizkids needs to introduce new SAs to keep me interested. And preferably these new SAs should be constructed in such a way that it also benefits older figures. Let more of my figures enjoy the game.
Crimson Skies and Mehwarrior are cool but too expensive though I might try out Crimson skies... and I think that heroclix is a little too much of a kids game. Overall I like the idea of masses of elves and humans clashing in a huge battle, and unstable cannon blaring through the length of a battle. Thats just my opinion though...
True, but every CCG out there isn't made by the same small company, splitting their own crowd and weakening their own material by spreading themselves too thin.
people complain about power figs, but WK is doing a good job to balance it. Think about it: Strikers were balanced due to the 11 attack on the bound clicks, so high defense had a chance. Everybody played with the KI Chariot, so they release the OST, everybody whines, so they release an anti OST, corpheus, everyone whines, so they release the A. Drac. Everyone whiines about the A Drac, but its defeatable.
And why does everybody whine about corphy? I've not seen many armies that actually use one, but he beats the OST with his 3 arrow FL. Corphy is not overbalanced! He's expensive and difficult to support, and is glassjawed. And the A. Drac is vulnerable to ram! 2 technomancers and a *ram warrior (in 300 pts) can take the A Drac out of Bound, and thats only 62 pts! how much is the A. Drac? 108 pts. I think the game is balanced enough! The cheesyness of armies is only because people can't come up with something better

Lots, are they all dead? Nope.
The market is big enough and diverse enough to bear different games, especially when they're aimed at different audiences.
I think one of the big differences though, is that card games don't last nearly as long as an MK game. If a lot of people leave the game, I see WK as forced to raise prices which will in turn drive away more people or at the very least make them sell less.
Don't get me wrong, I know the game spans continents, but these days I see more dissatisfied people with the game than ever before. Drachenmaster invited me to this website around April of last year and all I heard was how great the set was. Now I see a lot of dissatisfied people. What is WK's response? Release more games (Shadowrun, Creepy Freaks)
Here's they way my schooling has taught me to think of the situation. You have a glass of juice. Everyone loves the juice. But someone ends up finding something in the juice that is gross and they don't like it. The obvious solution would be stop the problem from the source, so you don't make more bad juice. You don't dump more juice in the glass to make it better- it's still contaminated.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that MK is a backseat priority for Wk right now. I believe they have proved this repeadtedly over the last two months.
Oh but then there was the Santa's Holiday flyer that made everything all better

What you are referring to is WK putting band-aids on problems, instead of fixing the problem at the source. All it does is force people to have certain figs to compete. Of course anything is defeatable, but uber figs on top of uber figs is not the best way to solve a problem. You're just perpetuating it, creating more of the same #### thing you were trying to fix.
im sorry to say it, but MK is slowly dying. It should be around for another year.
My plan is to play for another year and then decide what to do then. If its still dying, I'll sell them on ebay. (you can get a couple hundred for an average-sized collection)If it's not, play on.
THE very first complaint in the world of MK was ML . before... you could lev than shoot at your opponents.... Wizkids saw this.. and then it was changed.
Next people complained about TURTLES.... players waiting the whole 50 mins. waiting for the other player to come within range of their magic enhanced Deathstar storm golems at the corner of the tabe with deep water terrain.
Wizkids remedied it by placing in the bound figures... scorpems, sislith, corphy , A.drac, Titan, chariot.
The game has become a lot more active and games are finished faster/ more action.
Since a lot of focus has been channeled to Offense.... I see that the next expansion may dabble more on defensive SAs. Maybe we'll see a fig that has defend 20.. so as to give the other figs a chance to survive a big bound fig.
there are a lot f combinations of SAs that have not yet been done... and the return of mounted figs may be closer than we think....
MK is not Dying... It's the lack of player creativity/fun in players that is. Don't play for just tournaments. It's not always all about that.
I remember when MK first came out. you could almost field any combonation of figs and still have a chance of success. I remember saying how great this was and the only worry I had was "Power creep". Well it has happened. Yes they do address the problems. but the solutions that they have chosen is to force players to get special figures just to have a chance. WK needs to place a cap on stats and stick to it. IMHO
I also feel that they should base all descisions on what makes the most figs useful. If the game is healthy then the sales will fallow.
