There is a Magic computer game. It is fun as long as your not playing defensive decks (the KI calculates way too long with a lot of cards in play). Since it is a few years old now, it should be cheap to get. And I think it had a good tutorial, too. Try it out!
Weredwarf on the MTG online game you can have a trial version for free that works for 30 days then you have to pay. You have to download off of WoTC site somehwere.
there is no answer to the question of which is better, MTG or MK... the only thing it comes down to is what do YOU enjoy playing more.
the argument that one crowd is better than another holds no water... that just depends on who plays what in your area. my advice is to borrow some cards and try playing some games... see how you like it. see if it's more your style to play with 3d figures or 2d cards... then make your decision.
Well first of all, why ask this on a mage knight forum? Ive never even played magic and i think its ######## so you know what my answer is heh. I wont bother to elaborate =P
Both games are great and i have played both since their beginnings (with some time off and on with M:tG)
As usual you just have to find the right people, but i will say that i gave up the M:tG tourneys, too many elitest buttwipes with "i am the sh**" attitudes. So i only attended the pre-release for the new sets so i could get a leg up on my gaming buds :p
MK was a dream come true for me, i always like miniture gaming, but warhammer is just too expensive, besides i can't paint worth a dang. The tourneys are fun, even better with the scenarios.
All in all i like both and won't part with either of the collections i have. :D
I play both, I love MK but no one in my area plays anymore so that kind of bites.
Magic is a completely different story, I have been playing Magic for years and now they have Magic-online which is simply amazing. At any given time you can game which for me is great because I love to game all the time not just on the weekends and if I feel like gaming at 3:30 in the morning I can (played a guy in Anartica just this morning). Magic is simply the best collectible card game ever made (and I have played many) and the on-line version is almost flawless to the real thing. I play many games so I say play both limiting yourself to one game is doing exactly that it is limiting yourself so if you can afford it go for it. Oh yea that is another great thing about Magic on-line is it requires a credit card to purchase cards which most kids do not have so you get a much older crowd (mostly adults, a few kids but very few).
MK would be great on-line but we will probably never see that happen.
if you want to spend competitive magic, you spend a lot more then mage knight....most pro tour players or ny wanna be serious players spend 100+ dollars a month buying singles, drafting, sealed deck, and tournament fees. with mage knight, if you spend a few dollars here and there, you can still play competitively....that my opinion, take it for what its worth =P
You've just gotta fork that freakin fireball.
I've been playing magic since i was like 9. Eight long years ago. I did however quit when nemesis came out. i don't know, three years ago, maybe. I love the game, just as much as i love mk. However, the problem with it is, getting envolved is really pricey, especially if you don't know what your doing. You can avoid some costs by making a deck up, and just buying singles, but, when you just getting started, thats like impossible. Plus, i stopped playing cause i hated all the watered down new cards. As far as i can tell, and i don't have a very good perspective, since i quit three buying three years ago, the cards just arn't as good as they were, useless new mechanics, and new broken old cards. I only still play because, i still have all my cards from 1995. But, none-the-less, i love the game, very, very much. I got me into roleplaying, and the whole realm of fantasy. Oh snap, i think im gonna cry...
