Putting two tokens on the bound figure is too radical. That would make figures like a scorpem gunner much less useful. While they may still get first strike, that may be their only strike and that's not fair. With the use of LI figures, terrain, blockers and harassers, I do not see any reason to change bound.
I voted 'other' too.
However - I don't think making new SA's (or even new units) will solve the problem - we all want to use our good old figs, don't we.
I think the breakaway is the best option - so I agree with most 'others'. Even making the break away of single based bound-figs harder (4+) would solve the problem (Corphy and AD) -and it would be more logical. (However the good double-based bound figs are all LE, which would make bound a rather elitist business - but hey, you can solve that by making new figs. I guess we are all waiting already a long time for new double based figs, don't we?)
Removing the easy break would be a huge help for the most problematic Bound figures. It would also force those people who play nonnunted bounder to give better support to the bounder.
Like most of the "others," I'm for the removal of easy break on non-mounted figures. Not only will it make the ability more balanced but it just makes sense. What does a warrior posses that allows him to run and then shoot that also allows him to remove himself from melee very easily? Does he whack you on the head with his bow?
I voted other(and I'm taking my suggestion from someone else apologizes to them) and think that they should make it so you couldn't use another SA in conjuntion with bound so AD has the option of bounding and first strike or regular ranged attacked with pierce.
Although one of the choices is something that I posted as a change to bound, others have made me see the possible error in my ways....... I voted other and here is why:
1) Easy break away should only be on mounted figures, thus easy break should be removed from non-mounted bounders
2) I like the idea of a maximum attack value of 10 or 11 when using the bound ability (redspecter23 post, and I'm not sure which total would be better). This would have no negative impact on huntsman and other weaker bounders, but would keep the ubers in check somewhat.
I think this would basically reduce attack values on the biggies to -1 or -2 on attacks using bound.
cut the range in half- makes it more fair. if people just say "oh use an LI wall" no, I dislike devoting 60 odd points in my army because I'm afraid of facing another A. Drac loser. Its not the bloody breaking away, its the fact that the high attack, massive threat range, and sickening damage with pierce makes its first strike too powerful. You'll be dead long before she'll ever need to break away.
I like bound and i dont wanna change its rulling. Instead of changing the rulling why not make a pattern. Pattern that all the figs that WK will produce with bound should have atleast a maximum of 12 or 11 Attack
Reducing attack value will make other figs useless, for example Bakus with 11 Attack because of the new rule she will only have 10 because she have bound. how about if ur oppennet have Sheild Golem Deffending its army.
Changing once ability will only make a chain reaction to other ability.
if you think the high attack and damage is the problem then you dont know how to deal with an AD. if you are a good strategist then you would be able to deal with one quite easily. Bound isnt a problem. its just happens to be the best SA out there right now. When chariots won tournys, people complain about them. Host wins, Host should be gotten rid of. Bound is good? Then lets change it and make it worse to even the odds.
The idea is not to make what your opponent has worse, the idea is to play with what you have better. I don't complain about the AmDrac because it really isn't that great a figure. Sure, big power in the first attack, but all you have to do is smack it once for it to become useless without a healer.
