Psionystic, maybe I am reading Thunder Blow incorrectly. It appears to me that the Orc figure would do its damage value +1 on the second attack, not simply 1 damage.
Right now, I think that Charge and Bound are being totally wrecked, but not in the way most people think. The fact that a Scorpem Gunner can only move 5" now, or a KI Mounted/EL Unicorn/NS Nightmare 7"... It's stupid. They should be able to DT without taking a click of damage. Or at least be able to double their movement speed.
well put Psionystic thats exactly what I think is wrong with the changes to charge calvery shouldn't be slower than infantry, it just doesn't make sence (yeah I know MK isn't real but still)
And that's a big part of why I would like Surge to be half speed as well. If they are going to fix Charge, what are they going to do? Allow a Light Lancer to move 14" and attack? That'll fix Charge, relative to Surge, but then that wrecks all the 14" ranged figures too. This is something I don't want to see.
One of three things has to happen:
1. Charge speed has to be doubled for a full move then attack,
2. Surge speed has to be halved,
3. something entirely different has to come into the equation...
I applaud WK for attempting these changes to improve the game. I would dearly love to see melee improved and a lot more figures brought into the game. Half speed Surge will still improve a lot of figures, just not to the excess that is currently on the table... IMO...
Eh, first off, that's how I read Thunderblow as well, but that would make it just plain gross.
Surge is just fine, IMO. I don't think it will make melee overpowered and I don't think it makes more sense to change surge as opposed to changing charge/bound wording. Just make charge and bound able to double time without taking a click. While that makes charge and bound figures not able to truly double time, it ups them in power a bit and it can sort of be seen as a penalty for the fact that they can charge/bound without taking any sort of damage...
Well... I think the ability is very poorly worded.
It says:
Deal damage to the target equal to this warrior's damage plus 1 for each additional successful attack beyond the first.
You read it in two parts:
Deal damage to the target equal to this warrior's damage plus 1...
... for each additional etc.
I read it as:
Deal damage to the target equal to this warrior's damage ...
...plus 1 for each additional successful attack beyond the first.
I feel that this other interpretation is right, because:
a) 23 damage in one action is just plain wrong. (See IRHG, Ancient, dying because of some big beast stomping on his little toe.)
b) It's how they did it with some HeroClix ability.
And mrdbeau, thanx for the support. I don't feel too strongly about having KI Mounted moving at 28", I just feel they should be able to go 14", like always, without taking any new damage.
First, wizkid never produce any double based figs since after whirlwind with the exception of sinister's horsemen, now frm all the rumours, their new 2.0 rules will make doublebased favourite charge/bound figs useless.i think this is a really big blow to all mounted figs fans.
Psion, I'm completely with you on the Thunderblow deal. I mean, doing 23 damage is like 'WTF?' I think it is very poorly worded and hopefully it will be cleared up a bit on the SAC that comes out with the launch of 2.0.
And I'm all with you on the 14" movement for mounteds. I just disagree with the basic premise of what Teloric is saying. I DON'T think it would be easier to change surge rather than change bound/charge. I think most all of us agree that they should be able to double move and I think we most all agree that if they can double move but can't double double move (like 28") then that's ok. So changing the wording to say that charge/bound can double move without taking a click of damage is farily easy...
Well, maybe Wizkids will listen up and change this little rule...
