For tiles I'm going heavy on the hindering terrain and larger rooms where I can better utilize my speed/stealth to avoid Magespawn, grab the gold and run (if only it were that easy :-P ).
For chests I am going for chests with no lower than a 10 and no higher than a 13. I picked this range because I have a +4 thief and so to slow disarm with an avg roll of 7 I will be able to open the 13's. However, I don't want numbers too high that vladd and lyra would have no chance at disarming them and so I didn't go with anything that would need a roll greater than a 9 for them to slow disarm. I could have gone for easier chests to make sure I can open them almost every time but I don't want an opponent with only a single +2 hybrid thief to be able to have it easy.
I'll be test running my team against the following 2 teams this week. The first one is a ranged based warm up team. The second is a bit more solid and should prove to be a bit of a challenge of Zene, Astrus, Vija and Lyra. (these based on what I could throw together with my left overs)
#1
Rurik the Blessed
Carlana
Sunbane
Mageking Alment
This team is slower than the team I will be using, but it packs a devestating punch from range. Backed by abilities like Defend, Polearm, Magic Enhancement, Flame Lightning, Magic Blast and Magic healing it should be able to take on whatever the dungeon has to offer and could my team I'm using in the tourney a beating from afar if it can catch them unstealthed.
#2
Lady Arowyne
Trollkiller
Hazna
Phreggs
A team somewhat similar to the team I will be running the tourney. Phreggs can easily keep up with Zenephret's ability to disarm. Hazna while not as fast as lyra, can attack from afar. Trollkiller is a beat stick and can give Vija of Vladd a run for his money. Lady Arowyne, while not as mobile as Astrus gains Magic healing at level two allowing her to keep trollkiller in the fight. In addition her magic confusion could be very handy for setting up the rest of the team. Utilizing it to move an opposing figure in base with trollkiller and within hazna's range and then pull through the rear arc with Phreggs for a sneak attack!
The mage spawn for these warmup fights before the tourney will be using a more varied magespawn pulls as A) I'm still waiting on many of the figs I'll be using along with 3 more floor packs and a second trap pack (yeah, I'm a 3d addict now...I got 3 Starters and Trap Pack already) and B) I want to be prepared for stuff other than what I'm using as my opponent is probably not going to be kind enough to toss Tormented souls at my venomous team (...if he's dumb enough to do that I'm wasting my time playtesting :-P )
(seems once again a short post has turned into a novel...)
We played a friendly game the other day and I played
Warrior Huhn
Phreggs
Lady Arowyne
all at lvl 2. (105 but who's counting)
I did very well. The Huhn was devasting, and his pierce really helped take down the MS. Phreggs was great although the chest I got was a trap, the Huhn nailed the two MS it popped. I did more killing with Lady Arowyne than healing. I did get the Huhn up to lvl 4 which really helped too. TrollKiller is probably the same, just the Huhn has range and that saves on some retaliation.
cheers,
Bob
p.s. we played on Hirst molds, they are fantastic!
yeah the hirst molds rock from the screenshots I've seen of them. Unfortunately, as a college student, I don't have time or room to cast molds, paint and all that...so the wizkids 3d tiles it is for me :) How many hours of casting/painting is involved in making a standard sized dungeon with those, just out of curiosity?
I love phreggs!!! He's a great little thief, unfortunately he only has 1 damage so that nimble/sneak attack combo isn't as potent as it could be if he had 2 damage.
Lady Arowyne is nice, I picked her up as a single for $2 online and I definitely don't regret it. I haven't messed with Magic confusion much but it seems like it could really be useful for setting up opposing figures for ambushes.
Unfortunately I don't have Warrior Huhn :( or any of the "elite" heroes. He does look rather tough though. Trollkiller is nice at what he does after you level him a bit. He's been the beat stick of my armies past few times I've played and he hasn't let me down.
a realy good fig is Ryjalon!!
hes a draconum his range of 10 with his fighter/magic capabillities
at lvl.1 hes got command, magic retalliation, flight, and flame/lightning!!!
hes a reckin machine (i use him) seeker mock is a great theif!!
I was told it takes about 20 odd minutes to set a mold so you can remove the contents for further drying. From the site they give you an assembly line scenario so you can mold, scrape, set, remove, clean, remold at least 8-10 molds all in 1 hour. The tough part is that some sets require you to cast the mold several times to finish a particular model. Figure you need more floor tiles than anything so that will get used most of all.
You have to glue the pieces together before you paint them too so that adds time. You can randomly design your own stuff too.
Painting floor tiles is pretty easy, they were lightly sprayed with a sealer coat and then dry brushed. This took more time. These tiles were a two color job, looked awesome and did take awhile to do. You could go nuts with painting vines and more detail too.
I think the floor tile has 6 tiles in the mold, we had around 300 floor tiles so that did take awhile to acomplish.
Ryjalon is an amazing piece, almost the A.D. of the Dungeon world so cheap!
