Umm! I am so very shocked at this development!!!
May I be so bold as to predict the elimination of the following factions:
Atlantis Guild
Elemental League
Orc Raiders
Black Powder Rebels
Necropolis Sect
As a bonus, I will also predict that the following factions will survive:
Solonavi
Draconum
Shyft
I'll go one better, and up from the ashes will arise new factions, and within each faction, there will be sub-factions........I'm sure I could name them, but I don't want to ruin the surprise.....
It's expected for each major faction to have its share of major victories and major defeats in the storylines. What I don't understand was all of the flipping-out over the Elemental League a couple of months ago.
I doubt the KI will die, as the majority of them are still in the Rivvenheim. Those surrounding Khamsin will probably die, and the old alliances will die out, but it will most certainly be an interesting battle.
Why is everyone trying to kill factions? If anyone is wiped out it'll be like the Shyft. WK won't destroy a faction because they think it'd be funny. I'll tell you what they arn't saying, "Hey, I don't like how the KI are in those mountains, let's kill them off. And the EL is to in tune with The Land so let's have the Sect totally destroy them!" then the others laugh... to bad that isn't gonna happen.
Everyone, don't worry every faction is important and won't be killed. I repeat, no faction will be killed!
I don't think that any factions are going to be "destroyed", but I do believe that WK is setting it up so that the new factions in 2.0 will not work in formations with the ones in 1.0. Here's how I see it right now, based on released storylines:
-The Elemental League will be those who are held up in that fortress or whatever. The Elemental Freeholds will be those who stayed in the forests to fight.
-The Knights Immortal will be badly hurt by the battle at Khamsin. The Elven Lords will then come down out of the mountains.
-Don't know about the Rebels becoming the Revolutionaries. Probably a change in leadership or something. It may also be in the name. The Rebels could stay at home while the Revolutionaries are those who go out to spread the rebellion.
-Once again in the name, Orc Raiders becoming Orc Khans have already been referenced through those Orcs that decided to stay in Prieska (I think) rather than pillage and leave, thus not making them Raiders.
-The Sect and Guild I'm not a sure about yet. It may have something to do in the names yet again, similar to the BPR or EL/EF.
-And of course the minor factions, ie. Draconum, Shyft, Solonavi, will remain the same and be able to work with 1.0 figures.
This is how I see it shaping up. Hopefully I'm wrong about not being able to work in formation with their 1.0 counterparts. Even if I'm not, how often do you really work in formations now? It will be very limiting, yes, but not too big of a deal to ruin the game for me. Perhaps in game testing they realized that something was broken or inbalanced if 1.0 and 2.0 could make formations. Or perhaps they'll come out with more formation-substitutes, like gang-up? Just have to wait and see.
KI so isn't dead. The KI have something like 60 armies guarding the Rivenheim mountains, what does it matter if they lose one 60th of their armed forces?
I like your little summary Lawn_Gnome, and I would like to try and fill in your holes:
The Sect - Ever since the Vampiric Wars, and the Order of Vladd's victory in that war, there has been great political turmoil in the Sect. Those who are still the Necropolis Sect represent the other Orders that still exist, and the remanents of the Order of Ulhrick. The Order of Vladd has become a leading factor of the Sect's conquest, and the Sect has become the Crusaders due to the Vladd's belief in purification (through death, but purification non the less). The Deathspeakers as of yet have not played a direct role in the NS's conquest, and has begun to play a more obviouse rule to keep the Order of Vladd from taking total control of the Sect (I theorize anyway).
The Guild - As the Guild is attacked by the orcs, those who remain as the Guild are the ones fighting the orcs, and they seem to be losing. The Empire is what is left of the AG that has united itself and hopes to return the glory of the Atlantis to the land. From the Empire come the newly formed Golemkore which replaces the dwindling lines of troops (do to loss of land, and subsiquently possible soldiers) with new models of Golems, and the Technicians that build them will now be seen more frequently on the actual field of battle. As more humans die for Atlantis, the more powerful the Kore will become as the demand for soldiers rises. Those human soldiers that still exist, adn remain loyal to Atlantis make up the Imperial Legion, and have become the new eilite.
The Orcs - You more or less got the orcs right. The Orc Raiders are the orcs from the few clans left that do not follow the Broken Tusks or the Shadow Khan. The Broken Tusk have taken control of Prieska, and hope to build a permanent empire there, and the Shadow Khan are marching on the Guild in hope to take their lands and wealth.
EL - You said it how I think it will be.
KI - Same as the EL
BPR - I'm realy confused here. I guess the Bloody Thorns are the ones led by teh Red Dutchess and Duncan, and the Northlanders are the new soldiers that have come to replace the Galeshi(?).
Draconum - They are mercenaries, so there is no real change here.
Solonavi - I can't imagine why beings that are obviosly related so closely to the same magical source would faction apart.
Shyft - There isn't enough of them to have definetively different factions.
That was long. And remember folks, this is partly what I theorize mixed with what I have read, so don't quote me on anything.
Few people truely seem to understand. We elves have something called honor, I am glad the atlanteans are no longer our ally, they fled, but we are true warriors, not cowards like many of the other factions...(Atlantis Guild) We value honor and are willing to die for the Rivvenhiems! There may be a turn though... so what if we are outnumbered, we are the elven masters....
We will find a new ally, one not so cowardly.
Long Live The Templar!!!
