it is a disapointment, but at least there are some big hulkinhg monsters like thge orc warbeast and the rock gryphon in the set. If there are no shyft in 2.0 base set as well, then it makes sense, since without the shyft formations ability most newer players will disregard most of the mage spawn, as it happened lot from the first MK sets. Also most mage spawn were costed orginally based on the fact they would NEVER see formations, WK probably has some new math to do to figure out how to cost balance a fig whose usefullness will fluxuate so greatly based on weather or not a player has a shyft on the field.
The new rule where Mage spawn only need a single shyft on the whole battlefield to make formations, means even if that shyft was overcosted originally, you still make out like a bandit.
The newer weaker mage spawn of the dragons gate set may be a herald of less uber mage spawn to come.
Although I have found myself creating alot more mage spawn armies lately, it is no problem that there are none in 2.0. That leaves more space for the other factions. I hope there are a few Shyft, a Solonavi, and some Drac hotness as well.
Yeah, the "no magespawn in 2.0" statement made me very, very happy: I mean, come on, Mage Spawn already have by far the most figures for any "faction". Well, I guess you could say that the Shyft are the biggest faction by far.
I just like, as ArmyC said, that they're really opening up more spots for the new factions to have more figures to choose from.
As far as two 'Nubs in your army, remember, they're both still uniqure, so it'd just be like playing two storm golems in your army. Obviously I don't know if that's official, but that seems to be the obvious way to look at it, considering they have the same name.
Man, I am really really excited/happy that the new uniques are actual characters, add so much enjoyability for the game personally, what with history and all.
I noticed that too, ArmyC. MBing and splitting the d6. But in the battle report it was refered to as "Mage Blast". Are they the same thing or are they just nicknaming their abilities? Like some people call flame/lightning "chained lightning". A mispronunciation or paying homage to M:tG? I really can't say.
BTW, it's nice to see some central characters get reintroduced in 2.0. For the millions of MKers who couldn't get the 'Nub, now they can... kinda get the 'Nub. Perhaps they'll do the same for Snow and make him a Bloody Thorn? He could have the five o'clock shadow and everything. Or make Rowan more powerful and put her with the Elemental Frijoles?
"Having 6 points left over, the Standard Goblin Volunteer was a great piece to add. He starts Demoralized but can easily be moved into a good slot via double-time or Surge."
Why is the Orc Warbeast a Dark Crusader? Did anyone notice that....it says something about no MS in this first 2.0, so they threw in DC instead...that would mean that the Orc Warbeast is a DC. Why? I can understand the Bone Golem or whatever it was called and the Zombie Centaur, but I don't get why the DC have an Orc Warbeast....why doesn't anything make sense to me anymore.
Surging doesn't cancel speed abilities so you can ram with a warrior to knock the enemy out of its dodge slot and then immediately make a close attack.
The Orc Warbeast is in the Orc Khans; all of that other stuff is either an MS or a Dark Crusader piece. I guess they forgot to mention that the Warbeast was not a Crusader.
BTW, did any of you notice that Anunub had a light blue square for his wand attack plus a dark blue circle in his Ability Nexus? Perhaps those old 1.0 abilities will appear in 2.0 pieces afterall?
It also looks like figures who can range attack multiple targets can split the damage how ever they like, even with Magic Blast ( or whatever the new ability will be called).
This is what I was hoping to see Drad! All sorts of goodies for us to speculate on and keep us pumped until the big release. The armies look cool and the skulpts are amazing! Can't wait to get them.
"Choosing not to use Mage Blast, he assigns 2 clicks of damage to the Skull Golem and 1 to the Zombie Centaur (Anunub has 3 damage when making a ranged combat attack)."
If I had to guess about Nub I would say that the figures can not share the same name and collector #. that would allow them both to be in the same army.
