I'm thinking that the booster change was intentional.
If you haven't seen them already, the D&D minis come in boosters that look remarkably like 1.0 MK Boosters. Making the change in format for 2.0 is smart thinking. :)
A starter and a couple of boosters you SHOULD have at least one unique! For every six boosters you usually pull one, and Starters, if they have the same ratio, would give a unique for every 3 starters - I'm just not sure if the ration holds in starter sets - and I'm dying to know that (if it holds I want to buy more starters so I have stuff to give away at demos..)
I love the look of the new figures, but i can't help but notice the boosters boxes look about the size of MechWarrior boosters. Do I sense a price increase coming on.....?
now what i want to know is.. is that a dieing orc i see thats going to be on EVERY starter pack? we already a dead orc in the text of every other domain adn now they want to put one being slayed by the valiet 'hu-man' so every new player can have that be there first imperssion of orcs!
"oh well i would play orcs but in the story line arn't they all dead?"
Well the figures look nice, and the boxes are pretty, but how much is all of this? They have probably said already, but I have forgotten, and I am pretty lazy anyway.
Minimal purchase ???? 1 starter and 4 boosters ???? I've got 2 young boys with limited financial resources (of course, unless I decide to give them some money), and purchasing 1 starter and 4 boosters is OUT OF THEIR PURCHASING ABILITY. Especially since they've invested heavily in the original MK.
I'm not complaining (OK maybe I am), I'm just stating facts. For the younger players without the ability to throw lots of money around the transition to 2.0 is going to be an major financial issue.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm tired and Draddog's commentary just hit me wrong.....
1 Starter and 4 booster would cost 70$ over here - just shows you that MK is a very expensive game.
He ended up with several possibilities for an army, but if you wanted to play a themed army, you would still need to spend a lot more.
While the figures look great and the new rules rock, the figures appear very weak and "overpriced". 2 damage is not "too bad"? Only 1 damage could be worse!
Figures with 6" and 8" range, with 10" being "good"?
These figures are already dead unless we get a monofaction format.
20+ points for a figure with 1 damage?
Relics for 40 points? The horned Hunter plus a relic is probably one of the heapest combos you can have, and still he decides against it....
At least the figures in general seemed to be tailored for 2.0, mean to say he ended up with a better result than if he had opened a box of 1.0. This might only be due to the soaring figures though.
Looks like the demo kit was pretty representative.
I think its great that there is sort of a "reset", but how will these figures stand up to 4 damage sweepers and stuff like that?
I really dont have anymore interest in filling my useless figures box, no matter how good they look.
On the other hand, when was the last time you won a tournament with 10 Feasting Raptors? :)
I mentioned this in the general discussion.. But WK is not only providing 3-d secenery components in these boosters.. they are offering 3-d components 'by' these boosters.. Look at them.. look at the starter pack.. Am I the only person who sees Blocking terrain cottages and buildings!?!?
plus i see those boxes being able to be used for - oh whats that called....
FIGURE STORAGE!
can i open the box, look in the top and see an army?
can i put a label on the top and know what faction i have?
can i not have to buy fishing boxes or use bags?
