Put fireshield on Veratrix and it cant be shot at with ranged attack, althouth that would bupmp its cost to around 250pts.

Remember you can put Relics on both Veratrix and Vithzerai.

Veratrix initially can't be shot at anyway. Ghostform makes those nasty arrows and bullets go elsewhere.

One on one, Varatrix would win because he can't be shot, and his movement is greater so he would get the first shot in by surging and most likely hitting with his +2 (or3?) close combat bonus.

As far as a game goes, Viztherai has the potential to be a dominant figure too. He calls for proper domain placement or army strategies or he will wreak some serious havoc.

Both deadly figures in my opinion, but my vote goes for Varatrix if you consider the point cost.

Also remember Vithzerai is wand attack type, meaning all ranged attacks from it can be blocked with MI, and a relic like the Technomatic Attractor can also divert its fire.

Vithzerai vs Veratrix one on one i have to say its a tie. DEpends on who gets the first blow and they can both jump around and avoid that all day. Veratrix has ghostform but he only has a range of 8, VIthzerai has a movement of 10. It depends on who bases who first.

Who is gonna do better by them selves now? Gotta go Drac! I say this because Where as both could do major damage in a one on one. Vithzerai is better set to take out formations and swarms. Range or melle. A range formation he can most likely shoot first. A grounded melle swarm would stand no chance because he can swoop down from the sky and attack from 19 inchs. (if I read the rules right)

On weakness Vithzerai has is put silver cloud on a ranged unique with pierce, and if Vithzerai decides to soar it risks getting shot at for 2 extra damage and invul wont protect it.

Surge is based on attack type - Sword attack type can surge.

Double time is based on speed type - Flight can't double time, just boot and horseshoe.

Advantages of Veratrix:

Ghostform
Combination of Pierce and Crushing blow
Ability to surge from 12 inches away

Advantages of Vithzerai:

24 inch effective range
Stormfire pain
180 arc

Varatrix is much more versatile, overall. He is able to take advantage of Surge, combined with soaring flight and ghostform. His fast speed ensure his small range will be put to good use.

Vithzerai just is more of a large moblie cannon, IMO. Unfortunately, Magic immune figures will laugh at him all day long, since his wand attack type potentially limits him.
