I don't think that I over-estimatied Varatrix. I beat one in sealed using just nons, so I know he's not unbeatable, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a great figure. Like the Amazon Drac; I've beaten many of them in old-school MK, but that doesn't make her any less of a great figure.
Kossack will fall to Veratrix with a relic, you want to know why?
Alright, let's say I put the Magestone shield, which seems like it would be a fairly common relic, for 36 points on Veratrix. Trix now costs 192, a point less than Kossak. Trix can then surge for 11(because of his -1 movement by the relic) and now has a 15 (15!) to try to capture Kossak, since Kossak's invulnerability DOES NOT protect him from being captured anymore. Kossak's defense is bumped up to 20, but who really cares, Trix only needs a five to capture him!
So Once Trix does capture him, he can either push, or just sit there and wait a turn since he has a 21 defense with the shield and elimate Kossak on a 12 attack to 17 defense attack.
And you're telling me Kossak is really that good? Just don't let him use his staying power, and there you have it, no good.
On a sidenote, I think the Horned Hunter is the worst unique of the set. Don't get me wrong, I like his dial and everything, but he's a support piece with practically nothing to support! Just was poor planning on WK part to release him with this set, they should have waited a set I think.
I too love General Vale and cannot wait to have him leading a pure Elven Lords army around the battle field.
Even though I could be classified as a "Kossak hater", I still want all 16 uniques, they're just too cool.

do I need to keep saying it? Kossak can wear a blade of dominance and laugh his little moustache off watching trix fumble around.
hmmm kossak + blade of dominance? his point value would be 233 points (if am correct in the assumption that value means overall total, and even if am wrong, hes still the most expensive figure you will see in 99% of 300 point standard MK games). nothing will bother kossak with that relic. and even without it, you guys are looking at this purely from a stat standpoint. the truth is that in every game, im not gonna leave kossak standing there in the open waiting for hellkate hookjaw or varatrix to surge him, and how many people use hellkate to begin with? the simple fact is that this game is not going to be about using the same one or two power figures repeatedly, and if you make that mistake you will lose. and anyone who wants to use their varatrix with a relic against my orc horde, i welcome the challenge. lets see how well it works.

Leaving 67 points for objective-holders, which isn't a whole lot. Guess if most or all of those 67 points are toast, you have to have Kossak standing out there somehow...
And if I recall, you can attack a figure with a Blade of Dominance with ranged attacks, right?
Wow, actually ALL I said was that Trix with a relic(Magestone shield in specific) vs. Kossak WITH NO RELIC (including the Blade of Dominance, since I believe that is a "Relic"), Trix would win.
I never said do it, I never said I play it. How many time are you really going to run up against Kossak in play anyway? I'm not saying anything about any other situation, I am only talking about this one situation, so please do not put words in my mouth.
And the Kossak with BOD? Fine, go ahead and do that, but the rest of your army is toast, what there is of it against Trix, try holding objectives then.
you dont need people ON the objective to hold it if i am clear on the rules. so kossak with a blade of dominance, you say the other 67 points is toast? who cares. all i need to do is plow through your figures with kossak, and i will win. and i was just giving ideas to counter all of your ideas.
like i said in my last post, the simple truth is that MK 2.0 is such a different game than 1.0 that you cannot simply say, oh, well varatrix will beat kossak. there's simply too many things that can modify different outcomes and make things swing one way or another. kossak vs varatrix seems lopsided? throw in rain and mud. it becomes a much different story, right? that is all i am trying to say. the thinking required for MK is changing drastically, but we arent changing with it unfortunately. depending on one figure is not a good idea any more. in fact its a very bad idea, as more often than nought it will end up with you losing. i expect to see lots of varatrixes at first, but i doubt it will hold up long, as people will realize that its too risky to depend on one figure, especially a figure that is very adept at taking out one figure at a time, but gets swarmed easily.
Are you still talking to me? Because if you are, I think I made it very plain and simple that I'm not talking about the game at large. I'll put it this way: Kossak with no relic, and 107 points of support. Trix with the Magestone Shield, and 108 points of the EXACT SAME SUPPORT.
Given that both players can have a domain to help their individual armies out without canceling each other out, they're on fairly equal ground.
What I'm saying, in my opinion, Trix then wins in this SPECIFIC SCENARIO. No more, no less, ok?
And true, figures don't need to be sitting over an objective to hold them, but with only one figure, it'll be hard to take out the opposing figures enough to stop them from taking objectives from you the whole game.
folds, i didnt say your name, so no i was not talking to you, and getting angry at me was quite unneccessary. i was simply saying that while statwise it would seem varatrix would beat kossak, there are just too many variables .
HHHHHHHHHHeellllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooo these are all hypothetical situations you are talking about. To put it in old school for you how often did you see a post about the great fell reaper being able to buety-face an AM-Drac? Quite a bit I would say. And how often did that curtain wall just happen to block you line of sight while it was just in range? Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
