Why don't play it with Magus Rephalon?!
Invulnerability at first and later dodge with counterattack!
I think he is the best with Storm Maul.

well, because he is 77 points and that is just 35 points over the other weilders...he does have the abilities to protect the MAUL but that 35 point could be directed to support to protect the weilder and you would need to worry about protecting the MAUL...

Stoneheart with Storm Maul, 'cos he has wand-type armor, so you can go against an army that use BoL.

i like stoneheart with it but the toughness factor is what gets me, but it is also vice versa.

i stil think a guy who costs less points would be better, then you can have better support. Yes he is a beast with invulnerability and dodge later on but if your army is playing right you wont have to worry about your guy getting hit. use the other points for more support.

rephalon is a perfect choice because of his Invulnerability he is immune against other storm mauls.
ghostform on his first click will help against big bounders like 25"-bounding ravas, bols or soaring bounders.

Relaphon is a bad choice because of cost, and the Invuln only helps against other Storm Mauls or Book of Lightning...so as long as you have two CP's next to it, why waste the points?? I'd rather spend the points on more support...

The Army with Relaphon sux? HAHAHAHAHAHA It's whats eating all the better players in Germany right now. I read that in the WK forums.Relaphon is a devil with it. Besides what 35 point figure would you want to replace him with? Anyway I think this Relaphon is deadly cuz if an enemy tries to hit him and misses well Rel ***** slaps them, with Zeph Rel will be maulling people. (Pun intended :-D) Besides.. if the opponent get close enough they will get smacked around by elves with sticks (look like elves to me anyway) Plus whoever killed by the maul gets revananted right back at the enemy. Storm Maul is a good relic thats quite powerful even if a little bit expensive. An opposing Zephs Spirit would take out Relaphon. that would cripple this army. Apparently no one thought of that in Germany huh? I'm trying to point out both good and bad but I'm not doing a good job so I think I'll quit while I'm ahead lol.

Sytha with a crystal protector is much better. She costst less and wouldnt be hard to heal. You can put more stuff too.

did you read the new faq ? :

"Spirit Armor: .... If the wielder is eliminated by an opposing figure before the target, eliminate the target. "

zeph/spirit will be the last figure i will kill :)

so, spirit armor is no threat for relaphon.

The German Storm Maul armies are good, if you are not prepared for them. They are not, however, unbeatable by something other than another Storm Maul army. I've got a few armies in mind that could handle this and be generally competative (i.e. not strictly a Storm Maul hate army). You'll have to come to Nationals to see one, however. :)
