I have to choose Atlanteans. I find them the most versatile and fun faction to play. Their biggest weakness is the lack of any healing whatsoever. I guess I'll have to make do with spells and the Rally subfaction ability. :)
I also think Atlanteans are going to be the nastiest spellcasters in sorcery, especially with their subfaction ability to counterspell more easily...
Orcs come in a close second, but I tend not to play them as aggressively as they deserve. As much as I love them, they don't fit my play style as well as the Atlanteans...
My third and fourth picks (in no particular order), would be BPR for their versatility (serious lack of decent power uniques, though) and Draconum for the coolness factor.
Before I even knew they would be so powerful, I decided that all I wanted was this new awesome team with a new sweet skull head symbol. Then I got to see pictures of Deathspeaker Aeradon and I was hooked. He was the first unique I pulled, and came in my first booster. Ever since then, I have had great DC pulls. I haven't traded for any of my DC and just by chance have more DC than any other faction. I used to hate the Sect because they looked so dumb, but Spiritcatcher was what started my dark elf craze and helped glue me to the Crusade.
I was a Knights Immortal fan prior to 2.0 and that carries through to current releases. Although I have to admit I am starting to take more than a passing interest in some of the figures in the Elemental Freehold faction.
During 1.0 I liked the Ef: mending priestess, Troll Artillerists, ***Rangers, soo much else. Then lancers came out and while I liked the few Elemental Leagues figs I found myself drawn to the KI cavalry.... I liked that speed and the weaponmaster,
Thru the expansions I played either Unicorn Trackers, Heavy/Light cavaliers, or Troll Artillerists in my armies. I always did poorly when I played a fattie unique.....then 2.0 and the awesome Drac's......and the Elven lords....... but where's my Elemental figs?(sniff) So I began playing with EL figs and liking it..... and mixing in the occasional Drac. while wishing I had some EF figs to add to the mix. Then Dark Riders came out and now I have my Ef figs and I'm happy. Something to think about: Spirit Armor adds 2" range to any friendly fig. The ***Freeholder Warrior then get's a 14" range.. and bound on it's 2nd click. :)
And here we are with Sorcery.... and all the EF goodness.... and some darn nice EL goodness as well...... and Draconum sweets as well. I tend to only play figs from those 3 factions. I have figs from other factions for study purposes but I play with only those figs.. except hte occasional BPR force.
If I had to choose? Probably EF until(IF) the Crusade finishes them off, then I'll use my El figs(and Draconum mercenaries) to exact bloody vengeance until the last dork crusader is annihilated and destroyed......
i would say BPR but they have been not well as of lately...
So It is between Drac and EF:
I would say drac. cause EF only has 7uniques(including LEs and the LE mount) without :wand: which are all :sword:, note this includes: horned hunter, Javok'din, chitterling, hivemaster, thunder griffon, and then the 2 super rares... and we have zero  unique which leaves about 10:wand:
So i say drac cause we have honor guards and pike and their dragons for mount.
we have the 2 dragon mystics for caster with more choices than most faction get. throne monk, caldera, and other great melee powerhouse for melee.
we have alot nons now, revered, magna champ, feral and firecasters and monks for now.
Farchyld, with current tourney rules you can't put Torengrim's Helm on Zurgan because it cost more than him.
Enkil, your atomic k-bow won't work since Karrudan's Bow won't explode if you kill the wielder yourself....unless I'm missing something.
Now, it's necropolis for me. I've been playing them since sinister (since I started to play). Vampires, zombies necromancers and hey, we waste nothing of those we kill ;)
BPR the crown of Khamsin greatly improves them to playable level
They have always been my faction of choice
I do miss 1.0s leech medic though she was a useful low cost healer and is sorely missed
but as an earlier post said gunpowder and steam are just too cool
Orcs all the way! Been playing them since the beginning! Just Something about the lovable little green nasty guys! Like some of my fellow greenskins that posted above, they have some of the best little guys(Mauraders and Harkas) They have the best shooter in the game(Rava) Almost all the uniques are midrange figures capable of some heavy hurt and can wield relics and still leave plenty of room for support. For healers they have the Heartdrinker and his blood shamans and when the shamans are not healing they are hexing! Lets not forgot the Ub-Khans and Warbeasts! Common brutes in their own right! Overall the Orcs have some of the better figures and now with Sorcery they have gotten the :wand: figures they needed to balance them out. Krang, Bloodhawk and one of the best :wand: weilding riders out there in Scorch who has a longer dial than most riders and has toughness and regen! Can you say ouch! Reckless has to be one of the best subfaction abilities in the game! All in all Orcs Rule!
If I could not pick the orcs I would have to go with the other greenskins(although not exclusively anymore!) The dracs just for the cool looking powerfull figures. They have more powerhouses than any other faction right now!
Just take my knowledge of the game into account next time. Observe the Warlord title, and have faith in good ol' Farchyld to know whats what. Its just like the jello puddin...
jjd, you can do better then that :o , heh. BPR has snows fuser rifle, kyma, golemkiller and the allmighty... torc? Well I guess all factions get their shares of duds.
-Farchyld
Jeez, all these Dracs talking about how much they love different factions brings a tear to my eye... :(
Nah, kidding, I really like most all of the factions except those disgusting worthless Orcs (I mean, Farchyld likes them - they must suck... ;)).
Seriously though, I would play Draconum, Elven Lords, Elementals, or Atlanteans single-faction anytime, with Draconum being my preferred faction. As a poor college student, I have actually limited myself to collecting just Dracs and slowly getting rid of figures from other factions. I truly think a Draconum army can be competitive in even the highest levels of competition. As it stands right now, the Draconum have a ton of options:
*Feral Whelps - awesome figures for 25 points
**Feral Whelps - some of the best melee nons for their cost
***Feral Whelps - huge beatsticks for their points
*Whelp Firecasters - nice supplementary melee figures
***Whelp Firecasters - the best wand-attack type nons point-for-point
Magna Champions - expensive non-uniques, but very versatile and deadly
**Revered Mystic - With a relic, this guy can take down many uniques twice as expensive
***Revered Mystic - One of the best 100+ point cost figures in the set, and game
Grathakar - The best all-purpose spellcaster of the set
And every Draconum unique, which all can be worked into very good armies.
So I'll take the Draconum over any other faction competitively any day. And I didn't even mention some of the awesome relics which the Dracs can use and the Draconum domain, which is far more powerful than any of the other faction domains.
