No, the figure is no longer a familiar. It lives until it is killed.

Actually, if your familiar comes back when its master is soaring, it dies and cannot return regardless of its movement type.

The only stipulation to bring back the called figure is it HAS TO be put into base contact with the master. I don't know of any wing types 30 points and under, but if there were, it would be legal.

Cheapest wing figure right now is the *Frost Minion at 32 pts. Of course, Omens might bring some more (especially if there are winged Mage Spawn - which tend to be cheaper than factioned figures).
