Hi all! Im a predominantly RotS player but I recently played a tough against Jonah Levin with extended range ammo. Does Jonah Levin's targetting ability work with extended range ammo? Not having a BM around, I agreed to it but would very much like to know the official ruling.
Many Thanks!
...yes, jona levins ability doesnt say anything about not being able to use gear.
Several things help. Corrosive atmosphere, IT, a large bit of armor piercing.
There is also something to be said about pacing. Control the pace, force him to over commit and he will either shut down or put himself in a bad heat situation.
and then sometimes it is better just to kill Levins suppourt so that way he has to get desperate and take you out.
I chewed Solitude + Levin down with Lossey + E. Coolant, a HK Solitare w/ Mila Mazur and RISC Adv. Pulse Mod. and some VTOLs. Had I been faster in declaring my last order, I would have toppled the Atlas and possibly won the match.
It's like I've been saying, there's no such thing as an impossible-to-defeat army or piece. There's always a way to bring a piece down. Even Seka's Pride :P

How did the solitare fair for you, and how did you use it?
But I find it's easier to just avoid him and yes take down the support.
Jonah's one of those pieces that makes you have to react to him occaisionally.
I love jonah and hes evil, and well supported and it takes a lot to beat him.
Firstly and foremostly, the key to Solitude and Jonah, is his support. Neuter that, and hes gonna be hamstrung, is reasonably quick for an assault, but a majority of mechs are quicker.
A good player will keep most of his suport situated near or around Jonah, at least with in AO range of Jonah.
Long Range mechs also work against Jonah, the more you can pull off shots against him with out him being able to reply makes it more likely you'll tag him and drop his stats a bit.
My nasty army consits of 3 BR Solitaires, each with Advanced Pulse Module, and a WH Mojlnir with Anti Personell, this is able to obliterate Jonah pretty quickly. But you open yourself up with revenge attacks if you fail to damage him sufficiently.
