Do we have actual confirmation on that, or is it just speculation? I know the Templar was revealed as being part of the Davion set in the recent online chat, but I've seen/heard nothing definitive that Enforcer & Atlas are the other two (it would be nice, but...)
Yes, Jonas has confirmed that there will be 2 Enforcer III, 2 Templar, and 2 Atlas.
He also has leaked that April 25 will be the street date for the HD action pack.
The statement leaked by Critical Miss way back when was that one of Vic's last projects happened to be the Templar and it was due an Atlas/Enforcer style makeover... here's hoping I didn't misinterpret the between-the-lines stuff!!
(shame, the original CBT one was all nice and curvy, however it can't be any worse than what came before in plastic)
A NovaCat set? Have you heard something the rest of us haven't?
AFAIK this is just hopeful/wishful thinking, but the Nova Cats would be a logical faction to get a battleforce -- they have at least three 'Mechs that are faction-specific and have never been released as non-unique (the Shadow Cat, Wendigo, and Cave Lion.) That said, I'd expect Kurita to get one first, since they're in the same boat but have been around longer (and have received worse non-uniques.)
Now, that said, I wouldn't expect to see battleforces again. They're a fine idea from a cost-of-production standpoint, but with Action Packs rather than boosters and Officer's Clubs, they may not care to continue them. I imagine they're only doing the Davion battleforce because they had already planned it, and I suppose how it does will dictate if we ever see more.
I wasn't hoping or wishing. I just pointed out I'd buy the Davion one and IF/WHEN they brought out a Nova Cat one, I'd buy that. Just stating facts. Not interested in any other factions save Gunslingers. Of course with Gunslingers, all I want is POWER PIECES!!! :)

I wish that was true. Kelly was asked in a fairly recent chat about the sculpts in the HD action pack and she indicated that all three used existing sculpts. So unless I misinterpret what "existing" means (existing but unreleased perhaps), the Templar will still be the old pre-AOD sculpt.

As well as the following for other Action Packs:
<JSaunders_OV> Championship Vol 1. Pack June 2007
<JSaunders_OV> Championship Vol 2. Pack July 2007
<JSaunders_OV> Solaris VII Packs (notice, MULTIPLE packs)
There is supposed to be an article that details these releases but the Star Wars PocketModel trading card game announcement appears to have trumped the MW announcement for the time being.
Only mechs? No vehicles, no infantry? Not sure if I like that idea.
This is the biggest problem that I see few people making comments. MW is more than just a hack&slash game between mechs, it is really strategy war game.
I have a feelling that I would be prefer to have the game cancelled than having Solaris VII.
The idea of AP is great, if the consider vehicles and infantry (I do not say cards, because this you can get for free).
i do believe Kurita has received more uniques then CNC, CNC was close to Davion for the 2nd battleforce vote
i agree Kurita needs some decent units like an Assault with 18 " or a light with range of 16. after Annihilation their power has gone done, still if you look at uniques Kurita scored more, both had to share the LE lance so in comparisson with Liao, Rasalhaque and Clan Wolf they got less in that department (CW has more uniques then infantry pieces)
kurita
shiros 3, rokubukori 2 (1 non unique) 2 Hitsiko sone, 1 Nightcrawler 1 UR crimsonhawk
cnc 3 wendigos, 2 shadowcats 1 black knight. 1 UR Novacat.
thats about 7 to 10. though CNC has gotten better nons in the form of the NC mech.
i did hope that the templar would get a makeover similar to enforcer and atlas since the old one just doesnt fit scale or see that striking any fear really but hope it will look a bit like the Templar we all know and love aswell just with some extra armor plating and a bit more buffed up.
as far as future packs go there isnt to my knowledge much info on the exact content and layout after the davion one yet (could be 2 armies like the starter or just one with 2 mechs a few vehicles and infantry. all we can do is way till time is ready for them to release the news for us. if you have sticked with the game for 4 or more years whats waiting a few months gonna hurt us? why not fill time with warcolleges and workshops on army design, sell your olds for a buck to a friend and introduce them to the game. (admit its a bit hard to get a decent army when venues dont see the need of ordering older sets.
anyways im waiting and already looking forward to Solaris.
I personally wouldn't mind either Kurita or CNC over the other. I love CNC but the Kurita mechs are everything I ever wanted in a RD mech. Which reminds me, has there been an inkling of a hint of a possibility that there could possibly a RD pack in the near or distant future? No one ever said I couldn't dream, right?
Kurita doesn't need 18 and 16 inch range Mechs, they have enough. They just need some with Imp. Targeting at the start and good equipment/damage output at the end of the dial. Besides that, the faction has still good units to work with (Thunderbirds and MHI Amphibious APC) and the new Unique. Despite being fragile, good enough to harress Assault Mechs and Heavy Mechs with the pilot's ability...
The Davions have a lot of Assault Mechs, and probably less good Medium Mechs. So the Enforcers could give the factions some good recruitment in the Medium Mech departement. Also, the HD Atlas wasn't all that spectacular (especially on the Heat Dial issue), so perhaps now they receive some workable ones...
Although the WK folks were rather vague during the recent chat, I came away with the impression that the format for the upcoming Action Packs that would be coming out *after* the HD set and the Solaris Gunslinger sets was still undecided. However, they seemed to suggest that the APs would likely include units from two factions, that there would be vehicles and infantry in the APs, and that there would possibly be three identical infantry so that players could use them in formations.
Although it's pure conjecture on my part, I suspect we can safely assume they're trying to keep the price in the $30 range (which is what the two prior "Officer's Club" and the "Phantom War" packs retailed at); that's also roughly the retail price of the AoD Starter set. So, by extrapolation, I'd guess we're looking at the contents of an AP as being something on the order of two sets of figures from two different factions, each including one mech (with associated pilot/gear cards), one vehicle, and three infantry -- which matches the figure count in the AoD starter (again, that mystical $30 price range).
I would assume essentially the contents of two Wolf Strike boosters which is also right at the $30 mark. In other words, two factions, each consisting of 2 mechs, one vehicle, two infantry, two pilots, two gear. Then toss in a single planetary condition card and a single situational alliance for the two factions included.
Thus you have what you need to play the two factions against each other or create one larger battle force which can still take advantage of formations.

That's as may be, but the battleforces are about nons, not uniques, and that's where Kurita needs help. Kurita fans, not unjustifiably, have been complaining about their poor treatment over the last couple of sets (with the famously awful Goshawk and Raven, and the rather blah Mad Cat Mk IV and Vulture Mk IV.) Some non Rokus, Shiros and Hitotsunes, built more or less along the lines of their unique counterparts, would be likely to be of quality and substantially improve the Kurita non selection.

I kind of doubt it, but in terms of practicality it could conceivably happen (with non Ursuses (Ursi?), Karhus and perhaps Kodiaks.) That'd be awfully heavy, though.

I dunno, man, this is HD/SSw, the guys who used to be all about mediums. I point to their Firepower Goshawk, the Stalking Spider, and to a lesser extent their Wolf Strike Griffin. Even some of the Swordsworn stuff might be viable... I'm thinking the old Dark Age Centurion, here.
Of course, this is tangentially related to the issue that, by giving HD four assaults in addition to the three they already have, they will now be well ahead of the Steiners in terms of assault 'Mechs, whilst historically the former has been known for mediums and heavies and the latter for their assaults...

Which brings up another problem, namely that if they are better than "Sunfire", there're nons better than their unique counterparts, which is conceptually dissatisfying, and if they aren't, why would I buy and play them, given how miserable "Sunfire" is to begin with?

I got exactly the opposite impression. We know there'll be the HD pack (all 'Mechs), two Championship packs, each of which were designed as a 'Mech lance, and then some indeterminate number of Solaris packs, which will all be 'Mech only (quoth Jonas from the chat: "Solaris VII will be 'Mech versus 'Mech combat.") OTOH, they did say there would be vehicles and infantry in Action Packs, but I'm hard-pressed to figure out where they're supposed to be. The "surprise action pack" they've announced could contain vehicles and infantry, as might the Championship packs if they decide to throw in some support forces, but it seems like the immediate future is going to be pretty lean for anything non-'Mech.
