Im not 100% sure if he did have a FP or not actually but I do see what you mean, if he is going to sit and camp out hten just pog em to death. However your not going to hit hte tank w/ Direct fire, he based the mechs togehter and sat the tank behind the mechs and buffed up both DV's
The Highlander SM2 has a short range (only 22") and is fairly inaccurate. Just pog him from beyond his range and you should be able to force the turtle to move.

heheheh thats why I forgot what the name of the piece was. He hasnt used the thing in ofrever and a day for the same reasons...his arty of choice is the WD SNiper.
24(Tank+FP)+2(Evade)+1(Pilot)+1(Hindering)+1(Hull Down)=29??? and whos gunna even get near that??? not I even w/ a 30mile pole. id arty the heck outta that but then 2 arty units will take all turn, then if you sit back hes got a SM1 to pop rounds back ur way:P
The Ultimate Turtle Army!!!!!
just fyi if u se the tanks defense you use it INSTEAD of bartlebys combined defense so no 29 defence fo u just 25 or what ever bartlebys defence would be with all his gear
no it would not cavingjan it. pointdefense uses the units base defense on the unit that has the point defense so there fore u use either the p.d units defense or yours with all the modifiers. so u cant stack evade and all that onto the defense if u use the pd. use to be a battle master and had this issue come up b4 and had to get the ruling right from a lvl 4 bm who asked the lvl 5 at the time
PDS hasn't changed since it was first introduced. The base defense on the dial is the only thing that is shared (by the PDS unit) and replaced (by the recipient). I too have been a BM since MW's first year. (This was also a common problem that I saw at different venues when I travelled)
The most recent thread in the WK rules forums can be found here.
The most recent comment from the Rules Arbitrator on the subject can be found here. This one isn't as straight forward but does provide enough information to show that all of the target's modifiers (evade, hindering, pilot, etc) still apply.
well then u gotta argue with the lvl 5 bm chris heywood cause he will tell u otherwise u either use the tanks defense or the other units defense with all the modifiers applied
Just remember (and this was pounded into our heads in the envoy forums since the introduction of level system) a higher level envoy is not automatically right when it comes to rules. Only the rules arb is right when compared to the person running the event. The upper level envoys are there to help WK administer the organized play system and not about correcting game rules.
well i just emailed the rule arbitrator so will know for sure soon lol in anycase it can be confusing lol if ur right i will concede the point i have no prob with that lol
Cavingjan is right. Point Defense replaces the base defense with the printed defense of the Point Defense unit. You then apply modifiers that are applicable to the target unit.
I'm an L5. And no, it doesn't really matter when it comes to rules--except for the MW Rules Arbitrator (who is always an L5).
