If you are playing FF then obviously Thing BlueEyes is perfect. Fantasticars help you get to back row, and Ant Man and Blind Sided let you do lots of damage. Entangle might be something to use against MK 4s, and I've seen many different decks splash Berzerker Rage, because he can be a problem. Other than that, Personal Force Field might be useful for stopping Search & Destroy.
Alright so what I have come up with so far is add A Child Named Valeria, Overload, and maybe some Entangle. I already have ant man so maybe just add a Berzerker Rage or 2. Okay, also, what is the best way to combat longshot? He runs with him every game? Also, what about Ka-boom?
to be honest, Political Pressure works very well against sentinels. fine Master mold and USB don't count as recruiting, but that's in turn 5!!! what you're worried about is the ridiculous swarm before turn 5.
the thing you have to understand is that sentinels are very easy to hate against, alot of cards can totally destroy their game, but doing that wll make your deck weaker to other builds, which is not that big a deal if you only play that one guy.
Well, usually I play either him or another guy who plays Doom. A lot of times we play together. His team isn't too well put together yet, but that is because he hasn't figured out how to combo his cards yet.
ok this is the answer hehe. Play fantasticars, and tech upgrade to get the cars, Play Mr. Fantastic stretch and drop all the cars on turn 5 with him. then use a big 6 drop, hulk is best but Human torch is ok too. Always use Invisible Woman Sue Storm and on defensive turns keep her behind someone to prevent breakthru damage.
To combat pure sentinels, you often have to buy down your curve. If you are on 4, and they are on 4, they will bring out 2 to 4 characters. You might not want to bting out one big one in this instance. taking a 3 and a 1, or two twos, can help equalize the numbers. Also, they are generally weaker units at each rank, so your 2 or 3 can normally beat their 2 or 3 pretty handily.
But a lot of the cards that help them can help you also. Reconstruction program helps, as does Medical Attention. Sure, you are only grapping one and they grab 3, but your 1 will normally be more than enough to counter them. And if you keep a character around enough for Medical Attention to be used, you can save that 4 or 5 drop they wanted to get rid of so badly.
Another thing to note, a 1/1 Wild Sentinel is very easy to Overload. Sure, it seems like a waste, but if it breaks up their combo attacks on your big character, it is a card well spent. and in some decks (Doom) you can get that card back again anyway.
But the biggest rule to aply while facing Sentinels is that you buy multiple smaller characters on their initiative, and only buy out your big guns when you are about to go stomping. The biggest mistake people make when playing my Sent/Skrull deck is to buy their big guns when it is my initiative. Well, against Sent/Skrull thats not true... Skrulls and Overload take those out on their inititive too! :)
Also note... with Alicia and Franklin available.... if you run pure FF... you will do much better to get your Invisible Women and Mr Fantastics in play over Torch or Thing against swarms. She defends you, and he gives you equipment. So if given the choice, go with Franklin over Alicia in these matchups... and with a few Cosmic Radiations or Press the Attacks... you might be able to bring in both on turn 3. You might be able to bring in your 5 drop on turn 3 and start wrecking things... especially if you also play Antarctic Research Base.
Say you get very lucky, and you have 3 Cosmic Radiatiosn by turn 3, eaither as resoruces or in hand. Play your Alicia and your Franklin. Use each... then cosmic... use each... then cosmic... you have 3 resources minus one if you recruited one of them, or minus two if you recruited both.... But now all the main FF cost 4 less! Any 4 cost or less comes our for free, and that 5 drop only costs 1, your remaining one resource!
Thats....
Franklin
Alicia
3 drop Thing (a 5/5)
4 drop Torch (burn for 5)
4 drop Invisible Woman (all FF reinforced)
5 drop Reed (eqipment costs 1 less)
And if you also have press the attack? I have seen someone drop a whole lot more than this on turn 3 when it just works out perfect. once thing and Torch hit, you put an Advanced Harware on him... then use him and Torch to burn for 8... now you have 4 exhausted, so you use your Press the Attack(s) on Franklin or Alicia depending on what you are holding to make their respective characters cost that much less!
It can get real ugly.
A swarm deck will not normally do enough damage to take you out by 3 or 4... and if you get this going by then, you instantly swarm, but your guys are HUGE compared to theirs. And if your deck also have equipment, it starts flowing like water.
but, you have to be willing to sit back and take the damage till everything is in place to trigger this. And for some, taking 20 to 30 endurance while doing nothing in return is a hard technique to adjust to.
I've never seen any reports of a skrull deck doing well in a tournament. Sentinel decks have done alright but they haven't won any PCQs that I know of. Brotherhood and FF are dominating the tournament scene with Doom lagging a bit behind. FF decks are generally going to run Ant Man, Luke Cage, and Mr. Fantastic at their 1 and 2 drops. This makes Flame Trap not a good card for them because it's going to hurt them as much or more against most decks.
If you only play these two people and you're not trying to get your deck ready to play at the local store or at a PCQ then you can metagame against your two "friends". Personally I wouldn't call you my friend if you purposefully tweaked your deck solely for the purpose of being able to beat my fun/trick deck. That might earn you a foot to the balls. :)
