NO SIDEBOARDS this aint no stinkin magic. the worst thing marvel could do is follow what magic did. stay simple with great characters and they have a winner.
I say keep sideboards out that way if something that can really mess up a deck type is not is someones deck then it can not be added in like flame trap against a sentinel deck. the opponent will just have to find a way around it.
I vote no on the sideboard. Ever. You make a deck, you stick with that deck. You're betting that deck works. Your wussing out if you try to change midgame (for the entire tourney).
I vote yes though on a PROPERLY done sidedeck. Some teams and characters can really use a sidedeck. Especially if they had say, a "Team HQ" card. Then you can pull that out if you meet certain criteria. the DC Hawkpeeps wouldn't mind it either. Like so:
Hawkman. Whenever Hawkman is Stunned, KO him instead. Search your sidedeck for another card named Hawkman and take to hand.
Shows his reincarnation without needing to put a billion Hawks in your deck.
I think a sideboard would not be a bad idea. It would however lead to better players winning more games, as the complexity level of the game would increase.
some decks which are in my opinion more reliant on luck (I hope my opponent doesn't have flametrap/relocation/kaboom), would be much less viable. I also think that it might make the tourney seen a bit more diverse, as many of the heavily location based strategies would become less viable (lost city anyone). So I am in favor of a sideboard. I might start of small with maybe only a 5-10 card side deck. Just my thoughts.

I think the exact opposite would happen - the game would no longr rely on deck-building skills, as someone with an inferior deck can just pop in the counters s/he needs and win with them, rather than having to build a viable deck that can take on any/all archetypes.
As well, the tourney scene would become much LESS diverse, as fewer new deck ideas would come forth as everyone scrambled to ensure that they could take down 'anything' - and everyone's deck would be pretty much the same.
A side deck adds nothing good and will take away the whole point behind VS. You build your deck you set it up with characters and then use it. Side decks will be used to counter other decks and the cheez factor will be overwhelming.
The players will main deck:
4 overloads
4 not so fast
4 burn rubber
and if some of them are not needed he will dive it to his side deck
The side deck would look like this:
4 Global Dominations ( or back fire)
3 Foiled
4 Betrayal
4 flame trap
The side deck would just counter your opponent’s deck with cards designated only for the specific way your opponent plays
Brother hood = foiled and Global domination
Weenie = flame trap
Any team deck = Betrayal and Foiled
F4 toys = Back fire
I vote no.
Some people will cry until they win and will use any means to do it.
Build a deck and go with it, if it isn't the right deck against the metagame of the moment, you took a shot and failed.
Maybe We can just bring three decks with us to each match and use what we want on whatever game we want.
hmmmmmmm.
just say it slow....its not magic,....its not magic......
Even with a sideboard you still have to build a viable deck. Right now without them people can get away with what I call a guess deck, such as wild vomit, or rush decks, or should I even say super location heavy decks that just hope their opponent isn't packing 3-4 kabooms. With sidedecks these lets hope my opponent isn't prepared decks will have less of chance and we will have more diversity. Right now the location heavy brotherhood, or even X-men/brotherhood decks, that rely solely on lost city, and avalon spacestation, will dominate less, because of this we will more diversity because you will be able to make a solid deck and then have some nice stoppers in the board. Meaning balanced decks will be best. Each team is capable of making of making a balanced deck, hense more diversity.
I am very tired of hearing this isn't magic. Alot of other games have sideboards besides magic. If I am not mistaken yugioh has em, middle earth has em, and I am sure that others have them as well. I will be happy either way UPE desides to go on this issue, just make sure to keep an open mind. A sideboard will not be horrible move if they choose to go that direction.
I don't see the logic in your post peterparker. Adding a sideboard would get rid of decks like wild vomit, weenie decks, some other sentinal decks, etc. How does that add more diversity? Isn't it a good thing that people can put decks like these together that are not really the most powerful or the best and still be successful with them?
Isn't it a good thing that you can't have all these cards in your deck? If you had a sideboard, there would be less weaknesses for a deck. The strong decks would only be stronger and the average decks would be hurt.
With decks like these gone, it will just be the same thing all the time.
I still think that you guys don't realize that just because you have a Sideboard, it doesn't guarnatee that you draw those cards during the games you need them.
