Finally, a faction that will put a stop to the most broken cards in the game. All you BH players better start looking into new decks, as well as the Fant 4 Equip decks. HA HA HA. DC shall bring balance into the lopsided world of Marvel.
League of Assassins is clearly going to shoot a hole into the current locations-based metagame, but this isn't going to mean that Brotherhood or any other deck is going to become unplayable.
The beauty of a team-based metagame as opposed to a locked, five-color metagame, is that the more teams come out, the more options we all have, so the less likely that any one team will dominate.
The fact that with just one set we've seen FF, Doom, FF/Doom, and two different styles of Brotherhood decks win major events shows that there can be an almost balanced metagame with just 5 teams. Throw five more in there with DC and 2-5 more with Spidey, and I expect to see 5-10 "top decks", which will be a first for any CCG.
CF - Why? Because locations are some of the most powerful cards in the game! With the release of the LoA, the reliance on locations will need to be reworked in some decks (Big Brotherhood for one).
Also remember, all you need to do in stun Ra's and then flip all of your locations back over. In a good deck, this will mean that often you're really only "without locations" for a single turn.
Regardless of the number of turns you cut-off your opponent, you are cutting him off on the Brotherhood's most important turns (4 and possibly 5). Combined with existing cards like Relocation and Ka-Boom, you can now cripple a BH deck that is designed to depend on the most broken card combo in the entire game...Lost City/Avalon. Since BH decks are by far the most common in tourney play, as well as the most successful, Ra's al Ghul will bring a bit of balance back into the game. Decks of the other factions that do not depend on locations will start doing better becuase LOA decks will have a good chance of knocking out some of the BH decks that currently dominate the game.
The amount of location effecting cards has me wondering abou the different locations that are going to be in the dc origins expansion. I mean I know everyone is looking into the fact this is going to disable BH decks a bit, but does this also mean we are going to have some location heavy decks in DC?
there is a drawback with this amazing power. That savage beatdown and flying kick just got turned face down too. Almost requires you to play doom in tandem otherwise your gonna get pimp slapped.
