Originally posted by krazykilroy I don't think netdecking evolves the game, if fact, I think it Stagnates teh game. How can you even think of a new idea if you're continually working on the same deck?? At that rate, it would take months or years of refining before something else changed your deck.
1) The person who originally designed the deck is obviously fairly clever.
2) The netdecker might not be so clever. But he can copy a deck.
3) The thinking person in #1 now must adapt to clones of his old deck popping up everywhere.
Voila! Evolution!
As with biological evolution, we expect to see the most adaptable survive and that's what we'll see here.
I don't think its bad that you net deck. i don't liek it, but whatever. i really doesnt' effect me, cause when you net deck, you may not nessarily know everything there is to know about that deck, you can see the combos and stuff, but it doesn't mean you'll win with it. the deck is just the cards, but you have the strategies in them, corny yes, but whatever. after all, when you net deck you just gave your deck the same weaknesses as the first deck, except worse cause you can't see them most of the time. and once their exploited, your screwed cause you can't change decks in the middle of a tournament. thats why i preffer to build my own decks. i'll ask for help sometime, and borrow i deas, but in the end i move it arround to fit my style. some people are lucky and fit any stule of play. i can't so i have to make changes to any deck i see or make in order to fit my style. lol, theres my two bits.
Oh god the never ending battle over net decking. Its not wrong. there is a old saying you dont bring a knife to a gun fight. When you go to a tourment you want the best decks and once those best decks are out there people use them with some modfactions to suit there own needs.
Now I am not sure what you guys are talking. Are you talking aboot he guy who takes a deck off the net and plays it directly in a tourny. Yes its dumb and theyll lose. When I find a deck online I play it. CHange it. PLay it. CHange it till I know it.
And lets no tip toe around it. If you find a deck online and change some cards around you still are net decking. I hate poeople who say they hate net decking but do the same thing. Find a deck online change it a littel and say I made it without netdecking
I never said it's wrong. If you really want to win, you go for what works.
However, the evolution is MUCH slower than if everyone thought for themselves. Depending on two people to make all of the changes in the world is absolutely ridiculous.
right now, if someone made a Mono-Xmen deck that won a PCQ, everyone would say that it must be a weak environment, as opposed to actual deck building skill. Unless it was made by Hodak or Perlas or Dawson. then everyone would be playing Xmen.
Netdecking's been an issue everywhere and in every game i've ever played. it doesn't bother me now, because my playgroup is all about casual fun. but tournament play requires the best decks possible, and of course people who are just out to win will netdeck.

Exactly but I can see you bias they way your talking. What I see is people who try to make decks on there are mad at people who netdeck. They feel cheated doing all this hard work while someone who netdecks just makes the deck.
Well this is how all card games are work. its not wrong and yes it does evole the game. First there was TNB but from the it evoled into BBH and right now its the main deck. Now I havent seen how DC really has had an impact yet.
lol, again, i don't care when ppl net deck because they take on that deck's weaknesses on a higher scale. and if i can beat that deck and everyone is using it then that's good for me. right now i'm using the ss. cause their cool. and their are people here who also use the ss, and i posted the deck i came up with and over about month or more it changed into what i have now. (also, can you concider it net decking when people help you build your deck, and they put their ideas w/explanation etc. in them?) i haven't really tried against any big time tourney decks, but i only play for fun now. once msm comes out, well thats diffren. i'll see lots of ss decks and sf decks popping up everywhere and no one knows how to use them, and then some one wins and their everywhere and that just ruins it for some peopel who are trying to be original and, i forgot what i was talking about. ne ways, its not that big a deal, just find the weakness and that deck is ruined. i bet most of the "big time" famous players won't even use the b-hood. i know iq won't he's an inspiration to us all saying that orignality can be rewarede if you put the work into it.
Personally I would care less if someone copies a deck I made and played it terribly - would likely (depending on how many people knew I made it) give more credit to me for knowing how to pilot the thing.
It's actually pretty fun to take bizarre decks and see if you can make them work, and it actually improves your overall game to try and adapt to different, powerful decks.
If netdecking helps people improve their game and knowledge of the game (it does) and helps evolve the Meta by shifting the current in different directions either through deck design or anti-deck design (it does) then it sounds pretty good to me.
The only people I could see even remotely annoyed by it would be the original creators, but if I were one, I would love to see the Meta evolve based on what I had created and, after all, imitation is just a form of admiration/praise/flattery.
Originally posted by LuckyBeast Its evil when someone copies your deck then sucks horribly when they play it because it gives your deck a bad name etc...
Netdecking is fine, origional is better....
w/e
Opions are like butts...everyone has one and they all stink.
netdecking isnt better then orginal and orginal isnt better. have a fine mix of the two. Take the best of both worlds
well, here are a couple thoughts on it. I remember when I won yu gi oh regionals...someone at one of my tournaments printed out my decklist and traded for all the cards so he could replicate my deck--now, I was kinda flattered, but I also didnt totally like someone just copying my deck from me. Also, he couldnt play the deck as well as me. Copying all of the cards didnt mean that he understood the tech behind it. But, considering that it was a deck that was proven to work, he had every right to want to use it. And considering that options for deck building are so limited, many people will have to use the same type of decks anyway.....what all this babbling basically means is--go for it....use any deck you want, just give credit to whoever deserves it.
well, yeah. the list is just a list. you can guess at how to use it, but you won't nessarily what your doing. if someone wins with a complicated deck, and someone else tries to copy it, chances are the copier won't know what to do and how to do it.
