Edit: Courtesy invites are given to players who have a high amount of rating points (not Pro Circuit Credits) through their winning of sanctioned VS tournaments, from Hobby League to PCQ's to $10K's, etc. For PCLA if you had more than 2,600 rating points, you got 10 PCC's to use for PCLA. If you didn't use them, you lost them.

These will likely also be given out for PCAmsterdam and PCNY, but if don't have a weekly VS tourney then it's highly doubtful you can accumulate enough rating points for a courtesy invite. Yet another reason to convince the store to run VS Hobby League.

I suggest playing the game at other tournaments the store holds, especially at games like MLB Showdown, Yugioh, Magic, Pokemon, etc. where one of two situations arise. Either the game is very similar or easy to pick up for veteran players of YGO or Magic, or as in the case of MLB Showdown, Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokemon, etc. their major tournaments for the year have been held and they're players are looking for something else to do.

One final tip, brag about the amount of prize money available if you become super good at the game (PCQ's, $10K's, PC, etc.) Many older players will be motivated by cold, hard cash.
