YGO... -shudders- Sorry, just thinking about that game makes me cry sometimes.
Anywho... this game'll always have folks complaining... especially #5 (certain character not being in X set). I mean c'mon, this game is bringing the characters that we love and read about in comics to life! We all have our favorites and we wanna seem 'em on a card with decent stats and a good ability! Everyone has a certain expectation for their faves and when it seems like their fave either got a raw deal in terms of bad stats/ability or excluded all together, of course someone'll be crying out murder. But we all gotta remember that this is a... GAME! Just try to have some fun ;)
I make it a point not to whine. Occasionally point out my opinion. But then the only problems I have with the game at all are Roy Harper<>Arsenal and 7 Drop Spidey.
And I could prolly get a list of top players who would admit that Roy is overpowered.(not using that other word)
But yeah there is a lot of complaining going on here. I expect to see it during previews--just always happens then but after a while it should calm down.
Netdecking happens in any game. Some people are really good players but crappy deck builders. Hurts them alot in limited, but not at all in constructed.

Nothing wrong with Spidey, when a Spiderfriends deck top8s at a 10K than tell me how much of a problem he is.

Is he overpowerful..or just really good. I am going to have to go with really good. People think he is overpowerful when there decks cant handle it.
For example my titans deck faces curve sentail and the sential mark 2 keep countering roys and everyones effect.
Oh well movin on. The biggest complaint I hear is "(insert team name) is so broken. Its going to ruin the game. They should ban(insert card name)"
What i find is we have been through 4 decks like this now that would make hte game broken and no good. People say ban cards when they dont want to do the work themselves in beating the decks
Oh I think Roy is really easy to fix. Just make him check his atk once. Not at the begining and end of the chain. force everything to resolve. I am still suprised he doesn't work that way, I mean I don't get the atk bonus from Savage beatdown till it resolves right? So why should Roy be any different.
And there are a few decks that can beat him. Just because I play one of the feew that can doesn't mean I do not recognize the problems he causes.
this coming from a 15 year old who plays nothing bu tier 1 decks and gets all his 'strategy' and 'ideas' from the internet....right...ok....flawless victory
I never boasted being original, or having great ideas JamesBrown. I'm not a good deckbuilder, I can't link the synergies of over 600 cards in my head and find out what works well together. I'm not a statistics master.
But does this make me a bad player? Just winning due to "netdecking"? No, it just makes my playing more limited. What I can do is understand the synergies in decks, understand why tutors are good, understand why some cards are good in limited, and other's are crap. What I can do is play decks decently. Does this make me a great VS. system player? No. Does this make me a good Vs. system player? Maybe not. But I play this game to have fun, and to win money, and as I'm doing this (perhaps due too 1 above average sealed and 1 sealed I didn't really like). Maybe I can't play constructed for ****, that's quite possible, but I understand the synegies and how to work most decks well, not perfectly but enough to be able to play competitively. Perhaps I'm not as skilled at playing Titans as Rob Leander or as good as building decks as Gabe Walls, Foilball's friend (who made CS) and other great players, but does that take away my right to whine about whining? I don't think so. If you have something to say to me, say it to me, don't flame me on a message board because you can't talk to me directly, as you are quite capable of doing that anytime.
Way back when Danny Mandel said in one of his articles that both the Marvel and DC companies tell them what abilities and stats are exceptable for their respective characters. SOooo, if you're a player who is upset that your favorite character's stats or abilities don't reflect their comic book persona, you're directing your anger in the wrong direction. While a character may be the most important to you, on a whole that character may be a very unpopular and unimportant character. Unfortunately sometimes characters like these will be reflected in such a manner. On a much bigger scale it may be that some of our favs are getting somewhat shafted in the stats and abilities department, but miniscule teams such as X-statix are getting the spotlight shined on them. This gives me hope and lets us know that some of our not so popular and obscure teams aren't being overlooked. For that I'm very thankful.
So JamesBrown where do you get your deck ideas and strategys from?
I'm a 16 year old and because of a lack of Vs. players in my area online is where I playtest, throw strategys around, and get deck ideas that I can take and improve on. I doubt that without sites like this Vs. would be popular at all.
Great Post.... I tend to ignore posters who complain about broken cards... mostly I regard them as bad players. I hated playing Doom and detested the 4 drop. Mainly because I hate using extremely slow decks. I didn't have to wait long for ways to counter it. Eventually, Teen Titans will drop off when a more powerful deck becomes popular. I can deal with any card. After all a deck is only as good as the player that uses it. But if UDE dummies down the game for subpar players this would be a terrible thing.
i am one of the foremost complainers when something is not correct in my eyes.
but before i jump off the deep end i try to make sure that i have tried to consider both sides of a situation.
and when new data becomes available, i am man enough to re-evaluate my stand, and if it needs to change, then i will change.
in a game where the marketing of licensed characters provides the base source for the enitre game, it is not just a coincidence that people get excited by the prospects of the very characters that are used to draw us in to the game not living up to our expectations.
the act of posting is in general an attempt to locate like minded ones and discuss the matter in an attempt to gather more information, one way or another.
complaining about complaining is like protesting protesting.
you are entitled to share and express your views in a non-violent manner. it is great that so many share your views.
i disagree with a few. my right to disagree, though.
there are always going to be people that don't like the total way something is handled.
another frequently overlooked aspect f the complaining about some stuff is that some of these effects end being way out of character to the comic counterparts (i.e. roy). others are a sad representation at best (i.e. beast..sure his reducing the cost could be viewed as a representation of his education, but his stats are no reflection on anyone that has gone toe to toe with sabretooth and lived to tell about it).
coverage is another issue where people that either participated didn't feel as though they were given equal coverage, or people that were not even there at the event wanted to know more about the going's on of the event.
both of these are valid issues, when faced with the elitist mentality some of our players seem to have. combine that with the favoritism that does shine through and you have some disgruntling building up.
just remember to try to see both sides of an issue.
