As much as I would like to include 4 Wild Rides to the deck, I only own 1, and the price they are going for on ebay is just obscene. Costume Change seems like a cheaper subsititute.
Being one of the only players in my area limits my trading possibilties. Alas.
i have to disagree with stormwind, i have also play tested head shot and bring the pain and have concluded that head shot is a little better. with already taking hits from you opponet wile your charectors are hidden, and paying for wild ride it seems like suicide to run bring the pain on top of that. i stoped running hidden charectors and bumped the number of high drops in my deck to stop all the paying. :)
Felicia is there for two reasons; 1 is that her ability is horribly underrated - discard in Modern Age, with almost no recursion, can utterly destroy someone's game. 2 is that she add power-up posibilities with Black Cat on 2.
And yes I play a lot of pairs of cards. Surprisingly, it works out rather well. And, if those who cling to their 'rule of 3' (man, you people have watched too many Jason Biggs movies...) had READ the article, I mention various alternate strategies to eliminate certain twists in favour of extra copies of others.
I like the idea of Latverian Embassy, however, and I may test that out...
And yes, Wild Rides are not easy to come by. Costume Change and Weapon of Choice substitute well if you need them - but I wuld play as many Wild Rides as you have, because they're simply amazing.
Finally, I tried Bring the Pain and the cost was too heavy. Head Shot works very nicely, however, both for attacking up the curve in lower rounds or for etra breakthrough in the later rounds...
Wow. I haven't even thought about surfer in modern. Who else CAN run him? In my coilation deck, I run spidey, ghost rider, and a boosted dr. at 8, 1 apiece. I've got a couple surfers, so as long as you don't accuse me of netdecking, I'll use 'em. I'm going the total marvel tri-teaming coilation w/ avalon, so having cards shouldn't be a problem. Yay, a deck that can quad-team at last! sounds like fun.
I'd say get rid of daggers. Your deck seems to be tourn between the init., and it won't flow well if you draw off-curve.
I run spider-friends, and i found both Black cat 2 drop and caretaker to be too weak. Caretaker is a big weak target despite his ability to support other characters. Black cat stops few PTs that bother people. It'll make most of common enemy's PTs wait till turn 6, but it will hardly do anything to titans or sentinels.
Sentinel isn't neccesary, as with the 7 drop spidey and an ezekiel, you'll exaust every character they have, stealing back the init.
I also tried to Costume Change, Wild Ride, and Twist of Fate. Wild Ride wins the consistancy race by a mile.
I agree with Kerrigan, Bring the Pain causes more pain than it deals. With losing endurance from wild ride, head shot is just prefered in every way, and it may be the only thing that can stop Bastion's near impossible defensive pumps. Turns Luke Cage's attack from 14 to 20, and it'll cause a sentinel player to use up most, if not all their defensive pumps to save him. If you manage to break Bastion, you break a sentinel deck.
Bring the Pain is a painful plot twist. I won't deny it. I stopped using it completely because of that, especially if my character was getting stunned anyway it's like exposing yourself to 5 Drop Batman.. on purpose.
Head Shot however is limited. And even in Modern it's uses are limited.
I've not been a big fan of it. Combined with a defensive plot twist like Spider Senses, Bring the Pain can be more useful. I dunno. I'm not a huge fan of either one. I ditched Head Shot for No Rest For the Wicked. But then I run Crime Lords in my MK deck...
In Modern you don't face Bastion, just for the record.
bring the pain is useful for defensive stun backs, as there is not nasty surprise in modern age. you stun their attacker and then KO them with the MK KO effects. but in this deck i don't think they abuse the MK KO effects
More on Silver Surfer:
As long as have the characters, Silver surfer + Spectacular spiderman = oponent can never attack!!!
This would work great in a nonmodern tri-team match w/ avalon too...
ChickenChicken: There's no need for Coalition. There are essentially 8 Midnight Sons in this deck - more if you consider the possibility of Wild Ride to get Dagger to get Midnight Sons. That's definitely enough.
