It's really unfair to compare the legacy cards from Green Lantern with anything that's come before, since that was the first set the Developers designed the legacy cards instead of the designers (a policy that will continue with every following set).
Just my 2 cents here, but some people seem to be overlooking this small concept and turning into something twice as big as it has to be. When KnifeyMcknifers started this thread his main concentration was focused on what he said to be "legacy teams" (i.e. gotham, superman etc. for DC and X-Men, Fantastic Four etc. for Marvel) Please correct me if I am wrong.
Now the issue hear is not the power of the cards together but there individual powers in comparison. The problem with this is that it is so hard to compare cards like this from one set to another, becaseu one teams strong point canbe anothers weekness and vice versa. It is to hard to say "well marvel has Bamf! for X-Men and Gotham has Fizzle wich is better" But they are uncomparable becaseu Bamf is an offensive plot twist while Fizzle is a deensive it's like im sure alot of you have heard comparing apples and oranges, im sure some of you like your apples a little more then your oranges or maybe the other way around and this is what is going to shift those power decks such as Curve Sentials and Teen Titans.
But thats just my 2 cents:)
I usually read Metagame everyday, but I missed that thing about the Developers making the legacy cards now. If they keep up the way they did for DGL, then it should start levelling off.
As for comparing DC and Marvel, they may be apples and oranges, but deep down, they're still both fruit. With that in mind, they should both follow natures unwritten rules regarding what fruit should be*. With that in mind, Bamf! is a great card. It's one of the best combat PTs ever made. However, that card hasn't really added much hype and success to the X-Men team (the only real X-Men deck to do well doesn't even use it). From the first DC legacy cards, GK got Detective Work (helps their "Counter" theme), AI got the shaft, Titans got a slew of new and interesting characters (since they're already dominant, to give them even more seems like overkill, but what they did get was still pretty good), LoA got Pit of Madness, Bronze Tiger, Demon's Head, all cards that reinforce and make much more viable their team's themes. BHood got Insignificant threat. A great card, but it doesn't strengthen the team's themes at all. My main "beef", if you may, is that the Marvel legacy cards have been out of flavor with their teams compared to the DC counterparts.
*I have no idea what I'm talking about here... please ignore if this made no sense.
Originally posted by kairos10 I stretched the meta back to the first Pro Circuit, so Common Enemy has to be included.
---Ahh - Ok I was working more off the current meta. So yes in that case I agree with you CE should be in there.
We can't speculate yet on GLC or the changes it will bring. At least, not accurately. I imagine GL will be a good team (at least against Curve Sentinels), but I'm not sure at all about the other ones. At the very least, you cannot compare anything in GLC to the rest of the meta, because GLC is not part of the meta yet. So Marvel still has the edge.
--- I agree we can't tell yet, and I wasn't suggesting that we could but more along the lines of maye we should revisit this discussion when GLC has had a chance to affect the meta.
Rigged and Brotherhood of Mephisto performed well enough to be included, but you can cut out Rigged all together because it combines the two companies.
--- See I feel these decks we more of a flash in hte pan than staying power decks. I could be wrong though.
And I didn't include The New Brotherhood or Big Brotherhood, two more Marvel decks.
I don't see how straight Gotham will be any stronger because of DC. Azrael is alright though.
---This may partially be a hope, and me getting confused with modern and golden age. I think GK teamed up will be relatively strong in DC Modern. 2,3,4,7 drops all with pretty decent abilities and Detective work could be really good based on the plot twists I have seen from GLC.
