I would also like to point out that War Wagon didn't define Marvel Modern Age at all. Sure they're not the same card, but I think the only major difference between the two is that you can use Chopping Block from your hand (which is obviously quite powerful). No doubt it will see play, but with few ways to protect your equipped characters, plus numerous ways to recover your characters in response to such an effect, it is difficult to make such a bold statement as it will "define the format".
i'm not gonna say that chopping block would define dc modern but i do think that ko effects in general are gonna be huge. with cards like chopping block, emerald twilight, femme fatality, etc how could it not? i predict a lot of these type of cards in the dc modern meta.
You need something more than a ko effect to define a format, some sort of combo or strong character. Most people will probobly run it as a strong card and having your character chopped will be rather monotonous but i think the format defining card(s) will be dr light and/or kyle rayner 2 drop because they can search for many usable plot twists/equipment/character cards including chopping block
Chopping Block only helps to encourage GL-based swarm even more. Recovery effects will be essential to maintain board advantage against tricks like that.
Chopping block will be a very good card in DC Modern, like can you say abuse, you will see many top 8 decks packing this card, the ability to remove target character by just tapping something is siiick beyond reason and it can be tutored, whats better that that, it will be too good.
Originally posted by nickolai the deck which fears it the least, i'd have to say, is the TS/NG superman blue abuse build. i don't think chopping block really does anything to hurt that deck whatsoever.
You need to start equipping G'Nort with it on Turn 2. And chosing (wisely) to KO Kyle. Then you'll see results.
(I'm of the personal opinion that running less than ten one-cost characters in GL is a mistake.)

hm? i dont quite getcha... KO your own kyle with chopping block? but that'll remove him from the game, what do you hope to achieve? you can't light him into play anymlore, he's g.o.n.e.
OT-what i tend to do against ts/ng is hoard breaking grounds in hand so that when my opponent activates superman blue i can kill the team ups before the power resolves, hopefully doing nothing upon resolution.

Not what I meant.
What I meant was:
Turn 1:
You play some random one-cost Green Lantern, hopefully G'Nort.
They play Soldiers of the New Genesis.
Turn 2:
They play two more Soldiers. (In real life, one of these would probably be Lana Lang or Lois Lane, but let's keep it simple.) All go in the front row.
You play Kyle Rayner, finding Chopping Block. You equip it onto G'Nort, then form with Kyle protecting.
They send two Soldiers into Kyle. You both stun. You remove a Soldiers from the game with G'Nort. Then the third Soldier attacks G'Nort, stunning him. You choose to recover G'Nort. (This is what I meant.)
Turn 3:
You play Dr. Light, activate Light on Kyle, and get a new Construct of your choosing.
